KWA gbb track record problems.
« on: January 31, 2015, 09:05:31 PM »
Im a very active gbb user. Been through eleven different gas guns. Ranging from WE, g&p, ect. Now by far the guns that consistently disappoint and provide problems are kwa guns in my experience. Out of five only one kwa gun worked as it should have. My m11a1 developed huge stress cracks at the rear of the lower receiver. The usp would go full auto or burst at random times. The atp wouldnt fully cycle usually providing weak recoil, low fps, and sometimes not even feeding properly. The mp9 was the best as it worked as it should.

Now my latest kwa fiasco is a kriss vector. There is an apparent issue of the lower receiver frame rails and bolt carrier. They grind on each other and prevent the bolt from being taken out of the receiver for dis assembly. Pulling the charging handle feels so gritty and the bolt will get stuck in the rear position sometimes. After lots of high grit sanding on the rail guides and the bolt carrier i ended up sending it in to KWA as there was no improvement. This guy is going to cost $105 to repair! None of my other gbb's have ever given more of a headache and problems than KWA guns do. Except maybe the WE g39c which had a loose barrel assembly that was unfixable. Any body else had problems like these with KWA gbb's?

I really love Kwa and like the kriss the most if you are having issues hit me up and I can fix them all. Won't cost a whole bunch but will be quality work. Send me a pm if u want. I have had hands on every one of the kwa guns you have and know them well.

Its already in KWA's hands. The part they are replacing isnt available from their proshop which is why its pretty expensive. The lower assembly is being replaced and thats $70. The original lower had some intense gouging in the metal which im unsure of what caused it. Could have been the last tech that worked on in.

Admittedly some of these go back to their pre-KWA USA days, but....

No Issues:  USP (NS2), USP Compact (NS2), 1911 PTP, MP9
Some Issues:  M92R II, Glock 18c
Major Issues:  TMP, M92R

But, I can say that about nearly every airsoft company in business.  The only one that I can say has always been a disappointment is King Arms.

Boyi!? Oh man that is some low quality stuff right there. It's just disappointing getting so many problem guns from a company that has their slogan as "engineered to outperform."  They should at least come out with a better warranty program. The 45 day super conditional warranty is pretty meager compared to other companies now. I think its Ares who has a really nice warranty on the amoeba line. Systema offers a five year unconditional warranty on the north american version of the ptw! That's insane. Hell even airsplat has a 60 day warranty on purchases.

Systema PTW's are also over $1,000 and there's little to no aftermarket parts for them.  Apples to oranges there.
Airsplat is a retailer, not a manufacturer.  Again, apples to oranges there.

What kind of warranty do you get from E1, G&G, TM, ICS, JG, etc, etc?  What's involved in getting them to fix something?  You mention Ares.  That's one.  Their program seems pretty reasonable to me.

Typically I void the warranty within 30 minutes of getting a gun..  "opening this seal voids warranty." ::)

There is nothing wrong with E1, dboy, cyma, etc. Let me or any decent tech tune your chinese clone and it'll perform better and last longer than a $300 gun at half the price (not always the case). Of course, some people dont care for their guns so they want these "lipo ready," "already upgraded," "best gun on teh market." Its a hoax to get your money. The passion of tech work and care for the guns seems to be diminishing with the technology on an everyday airsofter basis, which is what other members here may have  been getting at when they said "old school," though is seemed to hint at a more social innuendo.  But there are notable techs who keep striving to push the limits of the sport, within their own means.

At any rate, no manufacturer is perfect. Pick your poison i guess.

This talk of AEG stuff is foreign to me  :o I only deal in GBB's now. Companies like VFC, elite force, g&g does offer a kick ass warranty as well. Im sure it depends on the gun you buy though. Any where from 30 to 2 years depending on the gun. Certain elite force m4's get one year, the top tech line gets a two year warranty, and some VFC guns get one year. Gas guns dont get very good warranties though. Elite force's warranties exceed that of KWA. They have a 60 day warranty.

I used to have WE, VFC, cyma, KWA, and Maruzen blowbacks. Your going to need that warranty lol

Those above companies are partly to blame for it.  Not to get too off track here, this is what is was like back in the "old days".

AEG, usually TM or CA.  I few people like myself went ICS.  But regardless you were looking at $300-$400 minimum.  Mags?  Pretty much TM or CA as well.  So, you were usually looking at like $20 a mag.  Add another $100 in for a good battery and charger since those aren't included.  Figuring 6 mags, that puts you at $500-$600 in and you haven't even gotten gear yet to say nothing of upgrades.  When you're spending that kind of money, you are FAR more motivated to treat it right and keep it running.  ACM's have made airsoft far more accessible.  That means more people, but that also meets more types of people.  The best way I can think to describe is airsoft has transformed from an niche enthusiast hobby into a recreational event for the masses.  GBBR's briefly gave some life back to the first group of people but even then it was pretty short lived.  Really I should be saying this in the other thread.  LOL.

Regarding the topic at hand, those other companies you mention their warranty programs are much more recent than KWA.  When KWA USA started offering warranties, that was a new thing.

That's part of my thinking though. When they showed up it was new but it no longer is. It's old and needs to be updated to compete with these new manufacturers who are offering better warranty programs some of which are not even under a premium price bracket. certain Ares and elite force products come to mind. I know it probably wont happen but airsoft has been changing quite a bit so one can hope.
