It should be fine, these motors have a ton of torque in them.

I put that in my M15a4 carbine and the motor can pull it easy. It is just the battery that you have to worry about. Good luck!!!

Are you suggesting that a 9.6v battery can't pull a m120s? Hosh-Posh.

What the hell kind of spring do you have? an 8.4 CAN pull a 120s, just not at 800rds/min..

It depends on a couple things, how many mah the battery has and what the discharge rate is.  I have a 9.6v 600mah mini pack that can't turn an M120 spring or even budge it.

I don't understand. Shouldn't voltage be the only thing that matters, as far as pulling a spring goes[?]. Granted, the battery can run out of juice faster and doesn't hold a high charge as long as a big pack.

Nope, without the amps voltage means nothing. Look at it on a larger scale.  Say you have a truck or car with a big V8 motor.  In order for the starter to crank it over it needs a big battery.  Now all car batteries for the most part are 12 volts, (we won't go into the 6 volt or 24 volt systems).  Since they all have 12 volt battery you would think one battery could do the job for any motor.  Well a 200 or 300 AMP (not mah, we're talking big batteries) won't have what it takes to crank over that big V8 that needs a 500 or 600 AMP battery to power that high torque starter.  Same thing goes with AEG's, springs and motors.  A heavier spring is like a bigger motor in your car.  The AEG motor is your starter.  So that little battery that use to crank your stock gun now doesn't have enough juice to crank it over.  Time for a battery with more MAH to do the job.

I think I just got confused when you said mAh, and not just amps... brain fart on my part. I remember what amps do now!

CA m15a4 motor
« Reply #10 on: May 24, 2004, 03:10:45 AM »
Well I decided to pretty much do a full upgrade on my gun. I got a bore up cylinder set and a high torque helical gear set, along with a m120s spring.

The only thing that concerns me is the motor. I wasn't sure if a motor upgrade would be necessary. I am under the impression that my stock m15a4 motor will hold up when pushing a m120s, but I want to be sure.
Am I ok not changing out the motor?
