Christian,

You have a great adventure ahead of you.

That being said I went to Basic at Ft. Jackson and it sucks in the summertime. Heat, humidity off the chart, mosquitos big enough to fly off with your helmet, ticks from hell and grits with breakfast every day.

John, I will match Ft. Jackson for Ft. McClellan suck factor any day but then I went through basic in the worse recorded heat wave in 135 years. We lost 12 guys including a West Point cadet and it was like that all over the base. The fallout was so bad they sacked the base CG.

I'd be curious to hear his first thoughts off the bus and after the first two days.  Lol.

Of course, it is just the Army.

By the way, one good way to keep from getting activated in the reserves is to be a small town cop where you can get the Chief to apply for an exemption for you out of need.

The military seems pretty good about that one.

Worked for me on an ATD once, heheh.

As most of you know by now, I joined the U.S. Army.[8D]

I'm off to basic training on the 27th, then to AIT at Fort Eustis, VA for 14 weeks.  My MOS (67R) has one of the longest training periods, so I'll be gone a total of 6 months.  I'll be back around Christmas time.

Keep the forums clean![:P]

See you guys when I get back.

edit:  did any of you go to Jackson for Basic?
