That rig is brand new. It may take a while to have one come up used.

Note: This is not necessarily a refutation of the types of green gas that Max tried as being propane, as his data is rather quite compelling (and disturbing). Instead this is a clarifcation of a misunderstanding of what I had posted.

SOTech Callahan Rig
« Reply #18 on: June 25, 2004, 10:08:04 PM »
I got this new setup today and I'm really impressed with it so far.

I got a good deal on a Coyote Brown model, and I was a bit worried at first that it would be too lightly colored for woodland use, but I feel that its brown enough to be good almost anywhere. (The photos don't really portray this very well.)

The pouches on it are mostly Paraclete pouches in their smoke green color, which like coyote brown, is a very neutral color and can work well in a desert or wooded environment. Even if the coyote was too light, the pouches cover most of the Callahan as it is anyways.

This rig is basically an SOTech Hellcat chest rig mated to a plate carrier. I don't have any plates... yet.

It seems to be extremely comfortable so far, and carries and distributes the weight better than my RAV does.

- Front shot (As you can see indicated on my fun meter, I'm having a lot of fun [:P])

Back side

I've got it rigged up to 10 M4 magazines. I carry 13 total, with one in the gun and two more on my left leg.

On the front, I've got: (from left to right)

- A general purpose pouch (For things like a spare battery, ingame eats, or whatever I throw in there)
- Small medical pouch
- Under the med pouch, I've got a pouch to stash my pistol* or a spare rifle magazine. (It is, admittedly, not my pouch. [:P])
- 4 Dual M4 magazine pouches (only 1 mag in each, though)
- Radio pouch, with chem light loops on the front.
- Survival/Blowout kit

Above the Hellcat portion, I've got a quad pistol magazine pouch and a map/whatever/general purpose small pouch. I only carry 2 pistol mags, the other pouches hold a multitool and light or something miscellaneous.

The arrangement is more easily visible in the next photo.

On the back, I've got a hydration carrier, a NVG pouch, and another radio pouch. I just kinda threw the pouches on and this may not be the final arrangement.

The Hellcat portion can separate from the plate carrier and be used alone, like this.

This photo gives you a pretty good idea about the coyote brown color. I think it appears almost olive drab in this photo.

The plate carrier is also usable when the hellcat is separated from it, so it is effectively two setups in one.

Here's what they look like naked (Although mine does not have the velcro spot in the middle like this one):

* Like when I get in a vehicle. Because you know how often we do that during games... [:P]
