Well, you should clean your barrel often with the little rod that comes with it on the sr16, and if you ever take it apart be sure to lube it when you are putting it back togeather and then everyonce and a while. When i lubed my gearbox, I just stuck some lube in the gears, and on the bushings. I have no clue about the GBB though.....

GBB's need plenty of lube and maintanence, more so than AEGs in most cases. Keep the barrels clean, the moving parts free of excess lube and debris.

Always discharge your batteries, and make sure to fire a shot or two on semi after you get done using the AEG (to decompress the spring). Keep magazines clean too.

Basically, you have to disassemble, clean, lube, and reassemble everything after you have used it for a while.

You need high viscosity lube (grease) for AEG gears, you need a lighter kind of lube for moving parts outside of the gearbox (the hopup).

I haven't heard anyhting about slamming the action on GBB's. I suppose it causes additional fatigue, but GBBs are always getting slammed around.

Maintanence Question
« Reply #2 on: July 21, 2004, 06:43:48 PM »
Hello,

I'm sure there's a topic on this somewhere, but nowhere recent.  I am finally getting my guns shipped to me some time around this weekend, and I just got to thinking about maintanence.  What am I going to want to do to my guns before/after or even during games to avoid damage and maintain its quality.
Here are the guns i am getting:
TM SR16
KJ M9 Beretta Dual Tone (full metal)

I'm guessing I'm gonna need some kind of grease/lube to apply to the moving parts, but how often and what parts should it be applied to?  I also heard that you are not supossed to let the actions on the guns slam forward otherwise it could cause damage.  On a GBB, I'm guessing it doesnt matter, as they are made to do that, but what about on AEG's.

Thanks,
Kynetic
