lol, slightly familiar with the style.  first time i heard the name, i had a mental picture of a weapons style with feather dusters in place of kama, brooms instead of bos, and wet towel nunchuka.  lol.  so i have a twisted mind for puns.

and jesse, i love hearing when someone has spent years and not at a mcdojo.  its good to see the arts surviving the commercialism of the past couple of decades.

so, we have any fencers?

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

No problem, just hard to tell (from your first post) if you were being sarcastic.  I dont' know you and from what i've seen you seem to be pretty intense and I don't see you being sarcastic on the boards a lot.  No harm intended, just misread it as more of threat than messing around.

Knife thowing is tough... the hardest thing about it is that you can't just pour straight hours into it to get good.  As soon as you start getting impatient or throwing halfheartedly you have to end for the day or it just gets worse.

Axe throwing however... not exactly the most applicable modern sport, but a ton of fun!

No fencing here, but I am looking into the SCA's armored combat.  Anyone do that here?  It's basically gearing up in medieval armor and beating each other with 1" diam. rattan weapons.

knives?  ohh yeah.  im an edge freak.  knives, swords, maces (spiked, not edged, but hey) axes.  lots of fun.

on throwing knives, you want to get really good, practice with knives not made for throwing.  helps you learn proper balancing.  when you move to perfectly balanced throwing knives, its easy.  when i practice, i move between throwing knives, blowgun, and my springer.  get tired of one, move to the next.

the sca fighting, expect to A. spend lots of time on your armor,
B. get LOTS of bruises, and C. see a lot of not really realistic fighting.

Oh, I don't care about the realism, there's just something primal about it that calls to me.  I went to their most recent war and I got an adrenaline rush just watching.  Not much you can do nowadays that involves all out beating other people without breaking some law, so i would say it fills a nice niche.  Another one that is even more brutal is the ECS. Instead of wooden weapons, their stuff is just edgeless steel. =)

I lift at home about 5 times a week, and go to the gym about once a week (or two, depending).

I used to work out for football and lacrosse but I tore my pectoral muscle a week before I graduated from high school.  Now I am in physical therapy about 3 times a week.  When I was a freshman in H.S. I weighed in at about 135.  When I graduated I weighed in at 215 (no...I wasn't fat).

I am in the Glendale Fire Academy. I just started, but anyway we do alot of crazy..... stuff to put it mildly. Started today running three miles which will later build up to seven later on. But I was carring a 50 pound vest and a 30 pound weight in each hand and running up and down bleachers and thats just the start of the day. But it started at 6:00pm and did not end till 10:00pm, and I am realy tired!!!

I know this is alittle late, but Im gonna say it anyways. Black belt or no black belt, if your a ***** a blackbelt doesnt mean crap. Your either a fighter or not. Some are just smart enough to learn how to fight better. Tough guys dont try and fight kids that are over ten years younger. Oh and I workout alittle to.
