The sensor that reads the changer that emergency vehicles use is mounted on top of the signal, along the metal pole that comes out, usually in the middle.

What's next:  The black box automatically transmits your speed in a given area.  If your speed is above the known posted speed limit, you get a speeding ticket in the mail!!

Naw, they'll install ticket dispensers right in your dash.  Break the speed limit and viola, put pops your ticket and the points automatically get deducted from your license through NICS.  The police won't even be needed for traffic violations in the distant future.

you make that sound like a BAD thing?  personally, im of the opinion that speeding should be a loss of driving rights on the first offense without good reason, and a bullet to the head the second.  people speeding is one of the biggest cause of accidents, and excess speed the largest cause of turning a fender bender to an injury accident, and an injury accident to a fatality.

Actually, people going SLOWER than the speed limit causes more accidents than people going OVER the speed limit.

Speeding doesn't cause accidents, indifferent speeds do.  Otherwise what you're saying is that everyone that races in the Indy 500, professional drag racers and so forth should all be dead.

Exactly! I don't think there's anybody here (who drives) that can honestly tell me that they drive through Phoenix, Flagstaff, Prescott, or Tucson and do not speed.

It's perfectly fine for traffic in a 30 to be moving at 40 or 45, just as long as everybody is going the same speed. If I didn't go 40 down all the main streets every morning, I would be late for my classes every day. Luckily for me, everyone else seems to think the same thing. Even the cops, they'll drive next to me and they don't seem to mind.

I still haven't gotten 1 ticket so far, and I never drive unsafe... or I try not to. [:D]

What do you mean that turn can't be taken at 30?! [:D]

nope, i dont speed.  the speeds are posted for a reason.  they are what are determined to be safe by people who have studied the dynamics of the situation, and determined the highest safe speed.  if you feel you should be allowed to go 40 in a residential, then imo, you shouldnt be driving.  

and if your that late, maybe you should set your alarm a little earlier?

Granted there are other factors involved, residential areas and so forth.  But in a hypothetical situation, going 60mph or 90mph on a straight level stretch of road, there is no greater danger of having an accident at one speed or the other.  Yes going 90mph will produce a more sever crash, but it won't cause the crash.  It's just like seatbelt laws.  Now we have the "click it or ticket" laws.  I'm all for safety and wearing my selt belt when I was 17 probably kept me from going through the windshield of my car when I wrecked it.  Seeing how I drive a motorcycle almost daily and have no seatbelt and no laws saying that I'm required to even have on, I take offense to being forced to wear one in my car. Not that I'm against seat belts mind you, but since I'm pretty conditioned to just hop on my bike and ride away without putting one on, I tend to forget to put one on when I do get in my car.  So should I be penalized for not having one on if I'm pulled over?

thats bull.  at higher rates of speed your vehicle handles differently, is more likely to skid on certain road hazaards, and you have less time to react.also understand that when you apply for your drivers license, you are agreeing to abide by the rules of the road.  you dont want to follow them, you dont need a drivers license.

whoops, harley, your right.  i did skim.  sorry.  no, i dont approve of helmet laws or clicket laws.  im an evolutionist, remember?  natural selection has to be allowed to work.  i have no problem with you having behaviors that are more likely to kill YOU.  its when others are in danger from a persons selfish stupidity that i get pissed.  i AM on of those people who are know to, if i see you zooming up in my rearview, change lanes in front of you, and speed or slow up enough to line up with someone else going the sl.

I understand that this would be helpful to police in accident investigation, and might effect your insurance rates for the better. (i.e. If your insurance co. sees that you observe the speed limits, use your blinker, and all that other law abiding crap. They lower your rates) I'm all for that, but as far as GPS tracking and being able to shut down your car if you are in a pursuit, NO WAY.

Truckers are plagued by a system called Qualcom that is used by companies for tracking trucks. This includes engine speed, idleing hours, check engine codes, ect..
However, drivers have found a way around this. On the top of the truck is a cone where the antenna is located, a little almumun tin foil and the truck is missing. I wounder if this could be used in new cars if GPS is implminted.

Also, can you imagine the law suits by criminals for having their car shut off while fleeing from cops.

Guess who would be payin for that criminals new mansion on south mountian. That's right kiddies, Me and you. The law abiding tax payers.
