Sounds great and all, but I don't think they want you using your airsoft guns to pick off illegal immigrants.  I'm sure it would be a great experience though.

i dont think he meant your airsoft skills as in firing. i think he means stealth and manuevering.

anyone from these boards wanna participate? i didnt see any place that denys you a firearm(maybe i missed it). would that be acceptable(for self protection, not slaughter of illegals).

You better be carrying something. I've heard the border patrol has gotten into some small-scale battles with coyotes and drug-dealers, especially with the tightening of the border! This actually sounds like fun? cmon someone has got to want to come with me.

edit:

I read more of the site, and its during school, so it doesnt matter if i want to come anyway(cant miss 30 days of school). Also im not sure if i trust the guy. His numbers are messed up. 5000 a day? my ass, there would be a LOT of people that would just seemingly pop up out of nowhere.

This border stuff has always sounded fun... But I think a lot of the people that have done this stuff before have done crap to get in major trouble.

Gixser, nowhere on there does it say you arent allowed to carry a firearm. This sounds fun and all, but it sounds more like a militia operation.

If you guy's think that you are going to go to this thing with a firearm, you just earned yourselves a one way trip to prison!
I think this whole thing sounds stupid!
I mean to let "volunteers" watch for illegal aliens! It sounds like a very unorganized militia mission! I agree with Firehead! If you want to protect the borders, Join the border patrol!   :x

Is it not legal for those above the age of 18 to carry a non-concealed firearm?  So if they're walking around with firearms in the desert, that's not illegal... though I've heard hunting after dark is... HEY OH!

I personally don't think this is a bright idea.

Whenever I go shooting around three points, I always have a colt .45 loaded and holstered (not concealed - not old enough for my ccw). I have no idea who I might meet out there. I've found over 10 abandoned vehicles with my uncle back in that area. We reported every one we found to the border patrol until they flat out told us to quit calling them since they are obligated to arrange removal once it is reported in. Ten bucks says most those vehicles, literally left out in the middle of nowhere, are not left there by "joyriders". More like Coyotes and Drug dealers. The amount of trash from the crossing illegals is just incredible, too. Its pretty obvious that the border patrol isn't catching alot of these. I'm not worried so much about most of the illegals - most are just people simply trying to make a better life for them and their families. The problem is the 1% who are hard-core criminal types and possibly *shudder* terrorists. As far as being mistaken for a "hunter", thats why you let the border patrol know you're out there. I could be wrong, but I think the border patrol has a volunteer "watchdog" program already running. Let me know if anyone can confirm/disprove this.

Why isnt it a good idea? Personnaly I have no problem with the open carry law and support it, If I was older I would probably take advantage of it.[}:)]
