<br />I would love to put together my own AR, but I was concerned about getting everything to work flawlessly the first time (bucause there may not be a second time with live ammo). Plus I have no idea what kind of tools I will need. I'm sure I would need to spend an additional $100-$200 on just tools.
I don't know a heck of a lot about putting them together, but if anyone has any recommended reading material I would love to look at it. I already looked at some of the stuff I found while searching google, but I never realy saw anything particularly detailed.
All the comments have been helpful so far, at least I have a better idea of what stuff will cost.

Yellowmonkey,
Here is one of the best web pages I have come across for a new AR builder:
http://www.brianlane.com/old.ar15.com/d ... bly/lower/It lists the basic tools, has pictures, and is very easy to follow.
Save your money, build your own, and start with a low cost receiver. Mega, Ameetec, and Stag are the way to go on a first build.
Model 1 Sales offers almost every configuation you can think of, and I don't believe you will beat their prices. Check them out.
