BB Velocity and physics 101

Ok... I'm not asking for the answer to this, because I know it. However, a few people (and one in particular) seem to believe that gas powered guns hurt more than aegs and springers- even if they all fire at the exact same speed with the same bbs.

I've been telling them that if a .2 bb leaves the barrel of a gas gun going 300fps at the same time that a .2 bb leaves the barrel of an aeg or springer at 300fps, they will hurt just as bad at whatever range. They will have the same amount of kinetic energy at any given point and will therefore hurt the same.

The only reasonable explanation I can give them for why they think aegs and gbb's don't feel the same to get hit by is that you usually get hit by aegs at longer ranges just before the bb starts to drop. GBB hits are usually much closer range. Most gbb's I've seen don't have hopups that are as effective as those on aegs...

Can I get some people to help explain this to them?
