FPS rules.. yet again.
« on: January 16, 2005, 06:52:10 PM »
Ok, I hear the Sigma co2 handguns shoot 400. Now, the question is.. does the 400fps rule only go to aeg's and snipers, or all guns? My answer was, that since the sigma shoots 400, you need to be 50 feet away to use it, and my brother, owning a sigma, started to cry when I said that, and he says no.. it only goes to aeg's and snipers. The fps rules go to all guns, not specific fps rules for each gun. Am I right? I'm pretty sure I am.

Edit: I would have checked the rules page, but for some reason, that page (and a few others) aren't loading.. I'm sure it's just my pc.

I thought AEG's had to be be under 400FPS if they could fire full auto..... anything else can be 500FPS (with a no 50' shooting zone) as long as its a semi or bolt.

Hmm. Damn.. maybe I'm wrong. That never happens. Check the rules page, but for me it's the "OOPS!" popping up.

Its how the rule states.   MAX FPS AEGs 400fps, (usually it is understood there is a no 10ft. engagement)  10Ft is farther than most think.  CQB MAX 300fps, meaning no engagement limit.    Sniper Max 500 FPS  50ft. no engagement and gun must be semi only.

Now, most pistols effective range is to about 50ft.  SO if he wants to play with a 50ft no engagement limit and obeys it, its fine.  But you have defeated the purpose of a pistol if you cant use it at close range and can only use it at extreme ranges for the type of gun.

Pistols have never really been an issue since most shot about 300fps and thus is CQB qualified, but in this case I would rethink the purpose.

I had just emailed PACO to clarify the sniper rule before I bid on a new rifle on EBAY, why is everybody's rifle shooting 550+, what are they using them for target practice?

I don't know of anyone who's shooting 550fps at any game. If they were, it is understood that since you dont respect other peoples well being, then you shouldn't expect the same for yourself from everyone else there.

There are only a select few who I would trust with that fps and they wouldn't even want to bother with the extra 50fps anyways.

just a reminder, AA chrono's with .20g BB's.  any gun that pushes a .36g to over 500 FPS would do a lot of damage.

wasn't there a table that converted FPS/bb weight to joules somewhere?
