Does anybody currently own a PSG-1 or know somebody that does.  I have heard that they are very tempermental and prone to jamming.

My brother owns one its a fairly good gun. He has not had it jamb yet if that is a problem or not. However, its gear box is built differently with the way the spring compresses. So sometimes it locks up so you have to hit the switch under the trigger to decompress the spring!!! Also, I have been told that the gear box is one tuff Mother. So I guess it has to be fairly decent. Its just long as hell, so running with it is not going to be an easy task.

I was being sarcastic. Just use the search option on the forums before posting. No body ever uses it anymore and its starting to piss me off.

I will tell you they are fairly sweet guns like Paco's 800 fps PSG-1.

Sadly I think they are far too oversized. Just get a nice M40 replica in gas   and you'll enjoy it a lot more.

Yeah, speaking about m40's and gas...Get the Sun Project M40a1 TGC..Its the pre converted gas version of the SP m40a1. That thing is bitchin. A guy on arnies shoots 495-497fps with red gas and can hit targets up to 250ft away.

I had a PSG1 a couple of years ago.  I had it upgraded to shoot 450fps w/ .20 bbs, tightbore, and all that jazz.  It was a cool gun, but I feel it wasn't very skirmish worthy.  If I had to do it all over again I would have gotten an SG1 and made a MSG90 out of it.  The PSG1 gearbox action leaves a bit to be desired.  While neat and all, normal gearbox action is far more reliable which makes it more suited to actually playing with in a game IMHO.

Just curious but how do you make a MSG90 out of an SG1? Is this a kit thing,  or what?

There is a MSG90 front end that you can buy, and G&G makes a MSG90 stock. It takes a little money to make but the end product looks great.  If you were to go in the direction of a MSG90 you would need the front end, stock, longer inner barrel, metal body.

If you look up both guns its rather easy to see. Creating an MSG90 would simply be adding some of the PSG1 parts to the SG1 as far as I can tell.

I agree with the SG1 idea.  I got an SG1 and I absolutely enjoy it.  It's a great gun and with a silencer you can slip a PSG-1 barrel into it.  You've also got full auto capability if you need it in a pinch.  Best of both worlds.  :)

Yeah but a PSG-1 is a true sniper gun and shouldn't be compared to an SG1.  If you're going to carry a dedicated sniper rifle you had either either be carrying a back up rifle like an MP5 or an M4 or have a spotter who can be your backup in a pinch.  Don't expect to use a PSG-1 in a firefight, it wasn't designed for that purpose.  You have to decide if you want to play the true sniper role or just be a grunt and get in the thick of it.  The benefits of using a TRUE sniper rifle in AA games is that you're allowed to run a higher FPS (500fps w/.20 BB's) whereas if you're playing with an SG1 you're limited to the 400fps w/.20 BB's rule.
