They're really good.  Much better than a CA mechbox, and about 100x better than a Tokyo Marui mechbox lol.

Nippon hobbies has the cheapest anywhere.
$50 + like $8 shipping.
http://www.nipponhobbies.com/product_in ... d8f68d0c8c

AEX has the M4/m16 version, which is the same as above.  The difference is the opening in the back which allows you to see the spring and spring guide.  I really have no idea what it's for,  if anyone knows cool.

Busta, I ordered the mechbox on a tuesday... at school :P  and it was at my front door friday.  It's fast shipping.

The little hole that you see in the rear is the difference between a version 2 and 3 mechbox

And the fact that the motor is attached to the gearbox, and the trigger assembly is different.  The version 2 & 3 have sevearl differances, not just one.

Why would anyone want to place a big order with Airsoft Extreme is beyond me. There are so many other shops with better prices and service than AEX. Go to Planetairsoft.com for a list. AEX also owns Spartan Imports---they are the sole distributors of Classic Army products in the United States. They'll give you all the reasons why you should by a CA and why you shouldn't work on your own gun, and why shouldn't do this or that but they'll never give you any good information that you can use. There profit motive is to keep you in the dark.  Their only best interest is there own.  If you want great prices and service, email you and I'll hook you up with some good shops. I don't get anything out of it--only the satisfaction that you don't shop at AEX.

I believe that part of the mechbox is removed so you can open and close the top and bottom receiver on the marui style M4/M16 AEGs.  Marui models use realistic pins and the receiver top and bottom actually flip open.  I had to slide my CA receivers together front to back.

There are other AEGs that use the V2 gearbox, but do not open like an M4 or M16, e.g. G3 , thus not needing the opening.

Make sure you get the right one!

LeftforDead, maybe you should explain to us who you are and what exactly you think you know about AEX before posting something so degrading. I have ordered alot of parts from AEX and never had a hitch as long as you make sure that they have what you need in stock. So what are these other so great retailers that you speak of? Most of the ones alot of new guys on here are posting about none of us have heard about. Id rather go with a trusted HK or stateside retailer.

busta_cap, the explanation is there in it self---before getting so defensive, re read the post with an objective mind rather than a subjective one. The other so called "great" retailers...(this statement tells us you know it all--or you're just a AEX die hard fan without hope), and the statment about "a lot of new guys are posting about none of us have heard of about"....is called tunnel vision with predjudice and conclusive...again a know it all. And the fact that you stated that "make sure they have the items in stock" before ordering is shaddy in itself. AEX will charge you for your order without havinig the items in stock--most all other shops will either tell you its not available on their website or will contact you immediately BEFORE charging your credit card. AEX will "float" on your money while you wait for your items. "Nice cash flow system for them"

I spent $8,000 in airsoft stuff this year alone; have bought from just about every major airsoft retailer. I'd say my purchasing experience whould make me a well informed consumer. Here's a list of the shops I've bought from in past and which ones I think are good. Keep in mind that if you build your guns from scratch as I do, each shop may have its own nitch, that is, parts you may need.  For example: Hurricane accessories kit is difficult to find--just everyone is sold out or want a $100 for it. Supremeco.com.hk has them for $58 plus $13 for shipping.  I can tell you from personal experience who is ethical, fair and worthy and on the contrary who has the worst business ethics around.

Places I've bought from this year and last:

www.Evike.com  Highly recommend (CA), free (fast) shipping, no tax and he'll work with you on the prices! Evike is a huge ebayer with 100% feed back satisfaction.
I bought the SR-47 kit, 3 hurricane metal bodies, and other stuff form him this year alone.

www.Rewolfairsoft.com  Highly recommend (Hong Kong), they have just about everything you can think of, the only down fall is that if you place an order with a lot of items, regardless of weight (example: 20 springs), their automated shipping calculator is on the high side. I've bought 5 G&P converion kits, LR300 kit, G&P SPR/A, etc. The customer service is excellent. One time they put two of my orders together which went over the $400 duty free tax exemption (so they could save money on shipping) and I had to pay import taxes on the items. Redwolf refunded all of my money on one of the packages ($350) to make up for the mistake.

www.supremeco.com.hk  Good place to buy accessories. However, it takes a long time form them to respond. But when they do repsond, they are dilligent. Things I've bought there: lasers, accessories kits, metal bodies shipping is reasonable.

www.Uncompany.com  recommend (Hong Kong). Repsonse time to placing your order is 24 hours. They have a good range of suplies and some unique stuff. Things I've bought there: Bushmaster Vmatch kit, outter barrel, stocks.

www.Airsoftgi.com recommend (CA), Very quick repsonse time, good customer service. Will work with you on prices if you purchase a lot. They have some stuff you can't find anywhere else.  Things I've bought there: G&P mechboxes, TLP charger

www.Airsoftalliance.com recommend CA) It's not on the main page of his website but if you search, it'll say 15% off all Systema internals. Mike (owner) gets his stuff directly from Japan; therfore, he cuts out the middle man here in the U.S. and passes the savings to you.  Things I've bought: CA 33e, CA M15A4RIS, tons of Systema stuff.

EhobbyAsia (found on ebay)--highly rcommend (Hong Kong) Contact Pun Chai directly (by pass ebay to save more money) at www.WGCshop.com recommend (Hong Kong). things I've bought there: inner barrels and metal bodies.

www.airsoft-war4.com (Hong Kong), resonse time is 24 hours. They have one of the largest selections of stocks and grips around (11 pages). Things I've bought: stocks and grips

airsoftshop.com--(Hong Kong) Don't recommend. Even though they are located in Hong Kong, they will charge CA residents sales tax because they use Airsoft Extreme's credit card processig account. And the bank account on record for bank transfers is Peter Ho, owner of Airsoft Extreme---Shaddy set up.

Arsoft Extreme-Don't recommend. I bought two so called custom gun from them at the same time, spending close to $2000. They made all these promises and didn't come through. One of the guns broke three days later and they wanted to charge me several hundred dollars to put the right internals that was suppose to be there in the first place. They control Spartan Imports, sole distributor of Classic Army products in the U.S. If there is any inidication that your'e importing Classic Army products in large quantities from over seas, you will recieve threats.  If you attempt to compete with them , they'll give you a hard enough time.
Also, their prices are much higher than most of the other airsoft shops.

If you need a recommendation, email me. If you want to place a large order, let me know---if we get a lot of people together, we can get a huge discount. I have wholesale contacts.

NOTE: this post is to inform not to degrade, or to prejudge others without the facts.

Airsofttroops is my favorite Hong Kong store, I highly, Highly recommend them.

Airsoft extreme is alright, but who cares where you buy your stuff from if they have everything you want all at one place?
