Had this question for the boyz up in Oregon when I was living there as it tended to rain everyday!  The guns are more robust than you think, I found the rain didn't bother the guns!  It was the humidity around the gun while in storage that gets you.  Also the weather is warm enough in AZ that if left out on the"nicer" days you will not encounter any issues from a nicely pressed, fresh from the oven gun!

Like I said before, I was always told a light coat of oil repels the water.  So put on a light coat before the OP and after you've dried off your AEG.  Just like regular guns, you can get them plenty wet, just need to oil them down afterwards.

If your AEG has a good coat of paint or finish on it, you shouldn't experience any rust. I have played in very heavy rain quite a few times now and had no problems with any of my guns.

As long as you keep your barrel pointed down, and don't submerge your gun in puddles, then you should be alright.

Rust?  Do you guys have cast iron recievers or something?

Like Hector said, don't worry about it.  When CAG was together, we used to go to BT and play in the rain all the time.  I remember one day it was raining particularly hard, and we simply wrapped our gats in a garbage bag.  CAG D Boy, being the youngest, didn't get a bag and his AEG got really wet.  At the end of the day he dried the contacts and was GTG.

Not to prove you wrong Andy, but I think a light coat of oil would be better suited to firearms than airsoft guns.  After all, there is no exposed action/bolt like on a firearm and there are no exposed metals that will oxidize with a small bit of moisture.  A bit of corrosion might occur at the electrical contacts, but they are within the rifle, and will likely remain dry throughout the day.

If you want to play on the safe side, put some duct tape around your battery connectors, and try not to dive into any puddles.  Anything more than that is overkill!  Just remember to dry it off at the end of the day.

Shooting at each other with "gats" in garbage bags?
Hmmm.

That doesn't sound like a normal childhood.

It's more recent than that I'm afraid, but I do suppose I did some odd things as a kid.

My gun has quite a few steel accessories on it, and I have no idea what my reciever is made of. W/E CA uses.

It was a joke.  Most "steel" airsoft parts aren't.  If they are, however, they have a protective coating or at least some paint.

I was thinking about making a kind of "AEG pancho" from a camo pancho and camo duct tape to match my uniform.....but if my aeg isn't going to have any issues I might skip the whole idea after all....
