New to the game
« Reply #120 on: May 25, 2005, 01:29:36 AM »
Hi all, My name is Dennis, but I go by FLASH. I got the name FLASH for PC gaming in F-18 Hornet, it was my Callsign.
I am ex-USAF, Ex-Paintball player.
I played paintball from 1989 till about 1996, I wrote articles in Paintcheck and Action Pursuit Games magazines.
I travelled all over the USA and Canada playing Paintball, but the game changed into a game of who can dump the most paint out, and who had the newest gun.
I am looking forward to Airsoft as it holds the promise of real Wargaming, and fun.
Hope to see you all in a game soon, or maybe when it aint so damned hot!
I have a KJW-M9 and just about to buy a MP5!

I am a drummer, a pilot, and a longtime Aviation Sim pilot.
I dig playing Rainbow 6/ Urban Ops/Ghost Recon!
I use tactics onfield, some of them are a bit strange, but effective!

Hi, I'm just moving to the state from PA and figured here was the place to check out if i ever wanted to use all of this hundreds of dollars of gear i have.  Of course, i have a few questions about you guys.

are you one group, or many?

do any of you allow ww2 airsofters or am i out of luck?

where do you play? is it out in the desert, in some sort of facility or in a ghost town of some sort?

what days do you guys play on? i'm used to every saturday having a game out here

i'll be out there in tempe around early july so hopefully i can get 'softin quickly after i arrive

as for my equipment,

gbb p38 pistol and holster
marushin maxi 8mm shell ejecting k98
p90 with destroyed sights, extra hicap mag
corresponding ww2 winter gear

but hopefully i'll have the summer weight hbt uniform before i move out there otherwise i'll be dying in the heat

i've been softing for about 2 years now but my aim still sucks, only thing remotely close to military experience would be the civil air patrol for 3 years, otherwise i'm a computer jockey.

very much into armored operations and the germans in ww2 (note: the nazis were assholes and deserved what they got, i simply respect the accomplishments of the wehrmacht) and i dont mind taking a few bb's for the team in a headlong rush if i am so ordered

Well, AA is like, an organization, and there are a couple of groups...but those comprise the minority of AA's membership. There's like SWAIRTAC and Brotherhood of Stuff and Fatal Exception, but that's like 10% of AA.

As long as you're honorable and like to have fun, then chances are you'll get along well, regardless of gear. You might be a little out of place though. Most of the players that you'll end up playing with at open games (non-AA sanctioned games) are pretty hardcore, and they're really into milsim. Modern milsim.

Well, given the, temperate, to say the least, climate of Arizona, where we play rotates throughout the months. When it's not so hot, usually the Four Peaks Recreational Area or Bushnell Tanks. As it gets closer and closer to summer, the staging times get earlier and earlier until everything gets moved up north.

All the playing gets done on Saturdays. There's usually an open game every weekend, where, like I said, you'll see the hardcore airsofters.

That being said, I'm still a new guy myself, but, I think I answered your questions pretty passably.

:) You can always try the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.. On any given day there's more Germans there than in Berlin..

Talk to 'em fast though... They tend to fall off the edge a lot.

I do miss the German-American Club in N. Phoenix..

Logical liberal democrat who also happens to be an NRA life member. (Not someone you want to have a political debate with, lemme warn you now, heh)

No military or paintball experience but tons of shooting and hunting in my background.

Enjoyments include archeology, anthropology, computers, wood/metal working, artistic creation, hunting/fishing.

Oh, I also swordfight for fun.
