I hate to break it to you but that is a version 2 gear box.  ICS may be calling it "their version 3 box" but it is most DEFINITELY a version 2 box.

Amature!

Oh on a side note. Marui gear boxes uses to come like that without the cut outs on the side so you couldn't see the spring either.

Duh... Amature!  Sorry dude but you put your foot in your mouth.

The difference between the two is cosmetic, they are BOTH version 2 gear boxes.

A TRUE version 3 gear box has the motor attached to the gear box via a cage unit like a version 6 does.

FYI this is what a TRUE version 3 box looks like.  Notice the motor attached to the gear box and the lack of screws along the top edge.

Keep it clean I know you put spaces in beween, but keep it cleaner. Stay calm geting mad does not help. There needs to be more proof. Many people here dont like ICS so they dont own mp5's. but there needs to be more proof then what is been shown.

They could avoid the confusion, and refer to their box as a version 2, revision 3.  Since alot of ICS and CA stuff sucks when it comes out, they "revise" them as later verions are released.  In this case, "Version 3" refers to the improved ICS version 2 box.  It's simply a V 2 that's been improved twice.

I know for a fact that MP5s use a version 2 because I once bought a used TM version 2 box that had an MP5 trigger installed.

LFD, your last few posts look an awful lot like something that "recon32/33" guy said.

hows it feel to be wrong? Huh, mr airsoft expert? I indeed checked out the link you put out, and it shows version 2 gearboxes, as harley already stated. I do not know my status on that office number you gave, but people don't always know what they are talking about(sound like someone we all know!!!). I knew you didn't know what a version 3 is, simply because of those links you provided. If indeed you knew what a REAL version 3 was, you could have realized "durr, this ain't a version 3, durr", simply based on looks.
For you information: the biggest difference on the two gearboxes is a plate that slides across the top of the gearbox. The gearbox drawing dealie harley posted is an AK gearbox(version 3) becuase it has the motor attached(AKs motor is attached to the body, by a series of screws that hold a case in place). Don't trust everything you see on the internet. I hope you learned a valuable lesson. I know i learned mine.

LFD wasn't wrong when he said it was a version 3, just a little confused.  After all, it does say that for the ICS guns, even though they were a bit misguiding in calling it a V3 when it was indeed an "improved" V2.

Let's not get into a pissing contest here over a tiny miscommunication.  You all know the deal now, so lets leave it at that.  Leave the bickering for the schoolyard, and lets keep this informative and productive, shall we?

LFD, with regard to the recon32 statement, I was referring to when you said "you dumb f-u-c-k".  Recon said that exact same phrase (which isn't that common, spelled out like that) several times before being banned like a bitch.  I was not making any accusations, but rather pointing it out to get some perspective.  I'll leave it at that.

We just used up 1 ½ pages just arguing whether or not an ICS mp5 has a v3 gearbox or not... I think that the arguement is over...
