No need for a dump pouch, that's what the baggie cargo pockets on your BDU's are for.

Tried this...and im missing 4 TM M4 standards somewhere in the woods of prescott...

I treat my AEGs like crap too.  They see alot of dry firing, never been cleaned or anything, dropped, etc, never had a problem with a single one. Rick

I suppose.  Since you put in those internals, I haven't had so much as a BB jam, John!

Good lad and I'm going to use your quote as a testimonial if you don't mind!

Don't unbutton the rear button just the front one.  That will keep the pocket secure enough so your mags won't fall out.  You can also replace the buttons with velcro on the flap to make it even easier.

I guess I am just not hard core like you harley, I have a csm dump pouch. Never mind that, what I was saying is how fast can you slip a mag into one of your cargo pockets? how fast can I put a mag in my dump pouch? not as fast as I can drop a mag. And as for hicaps you can't put a ranger plate on one anyway. I remember at cold burn when I was in the house and guys were entering, i knew I was low on ammo in my mag so i knelt down dropped it on the floor grabbed a new mag and poped out just in time to shoot. I am not debating the ethics of dropping mags, i was mearly pointing out how mag pulls and ranger plates can absorb some of the shock in case you do drop a mag. Whether you need to or not is up to you, I think someone who has enough money and wits to buy ranger plats would know when and where to drop a mag when they need to. and Raith, I swear it was my mag I dropped not yours, i think...

Understood and you have to realize that there are different things to take into consideration like you mention, high caps versus standards.  High caps cost more and cannot accept the ranger plate like you mentioned.  Where do you carry your dump pouch, on your pistol belt or thigh?  Most guys put it on their thigh right where the cargo pocket is, so how is that any faster?  I'm not knocking your style as everybody does it differently.  So what ever works for you then go with it.

I put my dump pouch either on my belt or on the bottom row of pals webbing on my mav. I am not knocking the dump pouch, nor using a cargo pocket. I am just saying that it is somtimes quicker to let a mag fall and grab a new mag then to make another motion and put it in your cargopocket/dump pouch. And if you do drop a mag the magpul and ranger plate will buffer it more then a mag without. I am also well aware as I said above about the fact that you cannot put either magpul or ranger plate on a hicap mag. Some like the hicap, I do not. I like the realism of periodically changing mags, and the mid-low caps are less prone to damage. my dump pouch is faster then a cargo pocket, because it has an always open top that has a firm border to hold it open and most importantly it has a oneway sinch tinggy made of shockcord and will keep my mags from falling out and getting lost like RickEJ6's did. ask me at one of the next games an I will let you check it out, you can ask raith too, he has the same. Not everyone can afford that little bit of high speed gear but you never understand unless you have tried it. To each their own of course.

Here is a pic of me with my CSM dump pouch a game last month (thanks to andyhinds for taking the pic!)

I have it mounted on my pistol belt on my left rear side.  Good piece of kit for when you can throw your empties in it.  Lightyears better than trying to put them back in an empty mag pouch or bdu pocket.  Also makes it easy when you have to pick up a handful of empties you just dropped because of a stressful firefight; just throw them in the dumper and go!

I have that also, but do not use that as a dump pouch.  Its mounted on my pistol belt also on the front to one side all folded up and out of the way.  I use that as a "whatever I need a pouch to throw something in" pouch, you know, to secure those sensitive items (like CDs and such...)

Cause you do SO many SPECOPS missions right mikey?  :P I found that you can actualy fit  7 M4 Mags..even 8 if your really carefull.. into a Normal sized ROLLY POLLY. I keep mine on the front left far side of my satch where I can position my rifle near it, drop the mag, and be reloaded quicker than having the manually drop it in there. Its tricky but once you get used to it its not that hard.

Well Im not a gear whore, but I love my standard mags.  As John said before most of the time you have plenty of time to properly intsall a new mag and secure the used one.  But There is always those few times where your in a heavy fight and you know your running low in your current mag.  I have and just like some others have done.  I had a mag ready in hand, dropped the old one and in goes the new one just in time for the onslaught.  Granted I dont have those ranger plates on mine and so If the ground is rocky, you wont see me do this even if I needed too. Money is Money.  But I do love playing catch with mags while in a fight : )  "I'm out!"..."Here take mine, catch!"

What I hate is when somehow you grab an EMPTY mag and throw it in your gun..Only seconds later finding out when it is already too late. This especially happens if you don't use a dump pouch and stuff empty mags back in pouches.

No, busta, that comes from buying tons of gear and never using it.

It just takes some practice.

I have a simple system.  I only have 4 mag pouches on my USGI LBV so I put used mags starting on the left and working to the right.  And its not to hard to remeber what mag pouch your on.
