My Backyard at Night (NEW ACU Pics!)
« on: March 01, 2005, 07:45:00 PM »
Some pics of my new ACUs.  Pretty much the easiest thing to spot is my face.  I'll need to camo that out before raiding the grocery store in this outfit after 1800 hrs. :P  Overall, I think ACUs work great at night.  Check it out!

Check how the color of the cap (which is close to Smoke Green/Ranger Green) blends with the pattern.

Thigh pockets, and calf pocket.  Note how the lower calf pocket sort of interferes with the kneepads.  Pocket access is still available, but the pocket is compressed by the lower kneepad strap.  I'll be moving these pockets down a bit.

New collar.  Some call it a "Mandarin Collar", but I think that sounds gay.

Tan Wellco VCL ICBs.  ACUs will be issued with almost the same boots, only the sole will be different.

Sweet man, where did you pick those up?  They seem to be sold out all over the net (at least where I can find them even for sale)

Yes, please inform us where you got them. I would like a set. They look issue, but I don't think they are issuing them yet. Looking good though.

It would be nice to know, that way if we do start a milsim team or something, we can all wear the same exact uniforms. Besides...i want some anyway.

I will sell my pants for 35 bucks.  They are Medium Regular.

I need a Med Long.  If somebody wants to buy a Med Long when they go to get theirs, I will swap.  They were out of Longs when I went.

Watch, now EVERYONE will have ACUs next time I come to a game.  Sometimes it's fun being the first kid on the block with the latest sh*t. :P

Firehead, my goal is to have our entire team in ACUs.

My goal is to have a team of at least five and have them all in Kamysh Noch 91M BDU's holding AK's. But back on topic those digital's are a nice piece of work. I almost bought them when I bumped right in to the Manikin. They apeared to be well made and had plenty of pockets in perfect locations with the velcro. Well made very well designed. Well what the heck am I doing David bought the pair.

Yes they are issuing them.  An Infantry unit from the Georgia Guard just left for Iraq clad in ARMPAT and desert boots.  Interceptors are still Woodland, as  with the rest of the TA50, but that will all be changed before the transformation in over.  Everything from MOLLE pouches to flyers coveralls (yea!) will be issued in this pattern.

After all, why spend millions on new uniforms when you are going to cover it up with the same old woodland an OD gear we've been using for the past 3 decades?

These particular ACUs (calling them that is a stretch) are far from the issue type.  Some major differences are:
Shirt
-No zipper closure with velcro flap.  This set has buttons like old BDUs.
-No velcro on the sleeve pockets for patches.
Pants
-Meathooks on the side waistband.  Issue ACUs will be rid of these bastards!
-Button closure on the booty pockets.  Issued ones will be velcro.
-Button closure on the fly.  Issued ones will be zip-up, with velcro flap.
-Trouser snakes (aka tightener thingy ribbons to blouse the pants) are present.  Won't be on Issue version.

And best/worst of all-extremely breathable, lightweight, and easily-damaged 100% cotton fabric!  It's ripstop, which is cool, but the ones Uncle Sam gives away will be 50/50 NyCo.

We already had that debate with multicam and never came to a conclusion. Maybe we should just make multicam go to the green team and acu's go to the tan team, or the other way.  :-k
