It's MEPS that administers the physical, and it's the same for all services.

They'll check for height/weight, flexibility, hernia, and the physician will ask you some questions about your medical history.  You will also get hearing and sight exams, blood pressure checked, basic medical stuff.  It's nothing you haven't been subjected to yet, but it's very comprehensive.  Be prepared to be in your underwear next a bunch of dudes for awhile.

If you take your ASVAB and physical in the same day at MEPS (recommended), plan on being there all day long (about 6am-4pm).

Its not too bad.  Just kinda wierd.  Having to stand there naked while some old dude trys to talk to you isnt my idea of normal. haha

But yeah, just show up and do whatever they ask and its no problem at all.  I got out in 4 hours, which was extremely fast.  Its an experience!

"Skivvies".  Of course we won't hold it against you if you want to call them your "panties", son.  (cough, cough).

You could have problems between now and when you are 18, and by that time rolls around, you will probably change your mind about joining up, alot do.

You better think about it hard cause the only branch that  really give you the job you want is the Army ( written contract) every one else, what ever is avaliable

Take it from me, the Physical is a pain in the butt... I did it about 4 months ago. You WILL be there ALL day.

1st you get yo walk around the MEPS center and get your eyes, ears, and blood pressure taken.

then you get a personal examination by a Doc... those guys are hilarious... just watch how they interact with eachother.

Next your Doc puts you in a room with a few other guys (depending on the load they have for the day)... the next part you get to do in your underwear.

You are weighed, measured, and tested for flexibility... simple stuff, like turn your palms up/ down... and some more painful stuff, like walking across the tile floor on our knees (sucks when you have a bruised knee)...

Next you get to take a blood test... we only had one guy pass out (he must have been going Air Force or something) :P .

Finally you get to pee in a cup with some other guys in a bathroom... I hope you're a public performer. :)

Then you get to take your paperwork to the USMC (or whatever service you join) offices... where you wait around and they decide when you should leave for boot.

Now you finally tell some office-jockey that you understand you are going to enlist, get finger-printed, and swear in.

Last but not least, you will probably get to do the  pre-IST (initial strength test). At this point, it does not matter what you get on your IST. Passing for entering the USMC is 3 pull-ups in 2 mins and 40 crunches in 2 mins, but that's something you will have to do during recieving (the days before BASIC begins). You will also have to run 1.5 miles in somthing like 13:00 mins...

If you fail your IST when you get to USMC basic training, you get to go into PCP (the physical conditioning program), which is 21 days of fun (or so I have heard).

Ohh, BTW, all of this is after you take your ASVAB.

Anyways, if you have any other question pertaining to the proceedure of entering the USMC, I should be able to help you... or just talk to the recruiter...

I wanted to go into Infantry-Rifleman, I'm sure they're in demand.... right? :D

I know that, but it'd be pointless to go and then not be able to serve because of something I could have found out earlier.

The military always needs more trigger-pullers, especially in the type of war we're fighting now.

I really enjoyed reading all you poor blokes description of you physical - I had mine here at Davis Monthan (in Tucson) for AF, and all my tests were done alone. Oh well, Air Force just treats their people better :D . Just kidding. Seriously though, don't enlist early - there's absolutely no reason and you may change your mind in between.

I plan on going in at 17 or 18, whenever I graduate. AF does get the better end of the deal though.
It's really funny how, whenever I go to see a recruiter, the one from the branch of service I want isn't there, first Army, long ago, now today the Marine recruiter wasn't there.
You get a good laugh on how they badmouth their brother services though :P
