Don't take this the wrong way, cause you guys know I love JT... but what do safety awareness and sansei masks have to do with eachother?  [smilie=armata_pdt_05.gif]

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock Jungle Toy at all.  I've met some of the guys from Jungle Toy and I think they are a great bunch.

But I can understand why some people would turn thier nose down at a wire mask.  After all, I doubt it would be considered truly ANSI rated without a sealed eye protection.

Though I've never tried one, I'm sure it probably works really well, but it won't pretect your eyes against dust or flyinf particles... like a .2 biodegradable breaking against the wire mesh.   :(

Actually, a BB won't break on it, becuase it is bouncy enough to soften the blow. I have one(had an emergency in case i needed it at my first AA game). It provides a seal around the face, and the mask protects your mouth and cheeks from direct hits. Its a good thing for minors and newbies to use(its free if you spend money on stuff you need...).

My friend, Jess had one. He shot it point blank 5 times to test it..

Just dented it, and the dent forms back out in 2 minutes or so. And hell, get it if you get it free and test it.. and always have it for a backup. I don't have a full mask as a backup, because I'm a moron! I have 2 pair of glasses on me, most of the time, but that's it.

I was being sarcastic. Gosh.

I don't trust those masks too much. I would rather have a nice, thick ANSI rated lens between me and 400fps bb's.

I think the only person who safely wears one of those things is spazz, but that's only because he is usually out of your range when he sprays you with his p90.

I was using that smiley as a black eye. I guess it's also a "shock" smiley, though.

+1 for the sarge.

If someone doesn't see how mask and safety go together, I will look forward to having them in my "special needs" classroom next year.

This may be hard to swallow but that mask is great for a newbie that doesn't want to shell out for high speed goggles up front and not EVERYONE is even into all that.

Yeah compaining about free stuff, only in America.

Of course it's up to the player what type of eye/face protection to wear- paintball mask, goggles, glasses, mesh. But mesh goggles seem to be a fairly debated form of eye protection.

You don't have to get high speed, expensive stuff to protect you well. JT (as in the paintball mask company) has "airsoft" goggles that go for about $15. Sansei masks cost about $20.

There's no need to be in a "special needs" class to see the diff between a wire mask and a true ANSI rated mask.  And as USMC Greg pointed out, it really doesn't cost much for a true ANSI paintball mask or goggles.  I use a Vector mask that set me back a whole $20.  That's not "high speed" by any stretch of the imagination.  And if you can't afford $20 for a good mask when most AEG's cost over $200, maybe you should reevauluate being in the sport.  ;)

I for one would prefer not to have to treat you for an eye injury cause you were cheap.  :(
