News Story on 'Replica Guns'
« on: May 05, 2005, 08:02:52 AM »
It didn't differentiate between pellet guns and airsoft, but you can tell some of the guns are airsoft.  Cops apparently shot somebody that refused to drop one (but they didnt say if it was pellet or airsoft).

Soon, like Kalifornia, Arizona will have the same kneejerk reaction and create more laws restricting replica, airsoft, and toy guns than they have for real firearms.

You might even hear a few "dedicated" airsofters sponsoring such silly crap in your state legislature in order to "save our suport" from the immaturity of others.

Hey, it is exactly what happened on the coast.

Always somebody out there that is going to "save us".   Put on your helmet, buckle your seats, take your government approved medication, shut the f'k up and eat your gobment cheese.  Uncle Sam will cuddle you in his arms and keep you safe, sweet sheeple.

This may sound stupid, but what would be a good idea in my head is license.. like an airsoft license. Or maybe, it won't help at all probly, but.. a certain age, like 18 to even have em, your parents can't buy em for you at all, or anything like that.

What pisses me off, is if I hadn't met AA, and learned all the rules I use on and off the field, I'd still be having guns in public.. I'd still be one of those kids.

So, thanks, dudes! ;)

I don't wanna license anything I own (including airsoft stuff).  I figure if you can't buy something until you are 18, then the same logic should apply to possession.

I beleive some guns you can buy at 14 or else it says on the box 14 or older... I forget which it is. Though all the powerful guns are for 18 or older.

Nope. You can buy a suction-cup dart gun, though.

Stories like this one are nothing. Go to news.google.com and setup an email alert for the search "airsoft". You will get a few stories a day- rarely postitive. News stories about kids getting arrested are published every day somewhere.

And shouldn't Randy Jackson be paying attention to American Idol? Since when was he a reporter?  :)

I can see where the cops are coming from on this one. It's gotta be hard on any officer to shoot some guy then find out he was holding an aisoft gun. If you point a realistic weapon at someone it is exactly the same whether it shoots bullets or plastic, you're liable to get shot. That said, I hope that we don't see any restrictive legislation on airsoft guns or anything else, giving away our freedoms for the sake of some stupid kids (and adults) safety is about the stupidest thing in the world. We cant protect these people from their own stupidity, if you restict airsoft, they will find some other way to get themselves killed or arrested.  And I certainly don't agree with you guys saying no-one under 18 should possess them, that should be up to responsible parents just like everything else. If you can give your kid a real gun, why not a fake one? Any legislation restricting any gun-like item is just a step closer to banning guns and a major win for the anti-gun lobby.

I'm with you, the only reason I don't own any machineguns/silencers is that I don't like things I need liscenses for.

Besides the Class tres $200 tax! The government can kiss my ass when it comes to stupid crap like that. But really, If you look at those guns, they are co2 powered, just look at the screws on the bottom.

Huh, believe me, if you own an automatic weapon, you aren't worried about the $200 tax stamp very much!

I wouldn't be worried about much If i had a F/A gun, but class III refers to much more than just F/A guns, I hope you know that!

A guy I know was held up and robbed at gunpoint...turned out that is was a BB or pellet gun (like a Crossman).  He usually carries, but didn't have his hand gun....lucky for those punks.  They were busted sitting on a porch around the corner.

The problem is not the guns. In my whole life, I have never seen a weapon of any kind, be it a fire arm, pellet gun, knife or even a base ball bat, jump up and commit a crime. It is the stupid, inconsiderate jerk who wants to impose his will, and lasyness on others.

A wise man once said, if guns were outlawed, only outlaws would have guns.
