I second that!!! One of the reasons we started MOSKVASPETSNAZ was due besause we wanted a serious milsim team with teamwork and discipline. The fact it was a Russian team theme was realy just the icing on the cake!!!

:D  Thats why I joined.

Rather than trying to start a team, what about starting a tournament style play.  Set up a bracket system.  Each week have two teams play,... Dunno, kinda like a league.

Dust that might actualy work. I belive Tac 4 over in Utah does the same thing. Over there they have a US, Russian, German, and Israel Team. They play one another on a given week and switch it up. They are based on having there teams having themes. However, that would not have to be the case here.

SWAIRTAC Is one of the larger teams here
MOSKVASPEZNAZ is rather small
Not sure on the other teams apart of AA
What you would have to do is pair two teams up on a given weekend to even the score. But make sure that you switch it up, everytime you play so not to creat anomosity between different teams.

What we would be proposing in the long run is that every member of AA would have to be apart of one of the teams. This would help to develop team work, and better prevent and regulate cheaters!!! Also buy switching teams up every week, this would prevent making it to competitive; and no single team would gain any credit. Also therfore there will be no ego's going around!!!

Start the AAL Arizona Airsoft League.  There would have to be a set of rules in place that each team would have to follow (kinda given), and there'd have to be a board for each part that'd be needed.  You could base it off one of the local Baseball/Football/Hockey leagues, and IMO the USAH rulebook is the easiest to base stuff off.  But that'd be awesome, I would imagine it'd be a hit.

Why would you think that it would prevent cheating?  Cheating is going to happen if a player is on a team or not.  And no egos?  If there was tournement games/league play you would start to see egos galore.
Don't get me wrong, putting an airsoft team together is a great idea.  Just don't jump into it head first.  Make sure the reason that motivates you to start a team is maintainable - meaning don't start a team just to say you are on a team.  It just won't last.  Get to know some players first and go from there.

Well said!

Knowing some of the guys in AA the way I do, we could easily just throw down one day and say "OK, we're a team now."  My best friends in AA all have similar gear, play similarly, and have a similar mindset.  Short of having an official name, and a neat website, we ARE a team.  Friendship, cohesiveness, teamwork, even matching gear - all the traits one could desire in an airsoft team - it's all there!

Here I spent all this time trying to make a cool team (CAG, remember that guys?), and then I realized you can't just ask for guys that want to be on a team.

Bottom Line: Teams form themselves!

When I played paintball really hardcore back in the 80's, five man teams were common. I played with the Hosers, and we were disciplined to playing the game. Nobody cheated, ever. We were all friends and it was a matter of pride with us.

There were larger teams then, but they all more-or-less fell apart because too many people couldn't all schedule their time around everyday issues in life to practice or go to team meetings, or make all the games... Too many opinons on this n' that.. -Too many Chiefs and not enough Injun's.

In every paintball game I played with "locals", we could always work up an impromptu "team," and we knew each other's strengths well enough to fight together pretty good. The Hosers were formeed to play tournaments and just because we liked to hang out together, too.

Hardcore and Paintball are two words that should never be in the same sentance, unless it's something along the lines of; "Paintball is for kids, but airsoft is for hardcore milsim'ers"

Remember, I fart dust. -Back in the eightie's, paintball was a good game. No players under 18, The guns were similar, -none of that "Two cases of paint, machine gun and sit in one spot" malarkey. You had to MOVE and fire, and the average ammo expenditure in a 40 min. game was MAYBE 100 rounds.

It was good, fast, close-up fire and maneuver combat. Cheaters were kicked off the field, and nobody went out with a ton o' ammo and did the "Spray and Pray".

Paintball today is a mess. I miss the old game and hope this airsoft stuff get's me pumped like I was back then.

I wish you acted this way in person so I could slap you!

First of all, you weren't even born yet when paintball was played the way he describes it.  When I played several years ago, I caught the tail end of this transformation, and me a my buddies were some of the last guys to show up at the field wearing BDUs and LC2 gear.  Yeah, we got made fun of by the sellouts that started wearing BMX-style jerseys and buying colorful guns (I never called it a "marker", that came later), but we despised them as well for allowing our favorite past-time to be transformed into a haven for weenies.

Today, I don't even recognize paintball as something I used to partake in.  Is it for me?  No.  Will I probably ever play again?  No.  Do I respect paintballers?  Yes.

Sure, we make fun of it because they wear silly outfits and have silly-looking guns.  It's not mil-sim, then again it doesn't try to be!  I think the guys that wear BDUs now and have A4s decked out to look like an MP5 are dorkier than the guys wearing the jerseys.  If you want milsim, play airsoft.  If you want a fast-paced action game with winners and losers, play paintball.  No matter your choice, I say "Game On"!

Now, back to what was so well-said by Mooncruiser.  All of what he said applies to airsoft.  Don't walk away after reading that thinking it was just about paintball.  It's about people.  People become friends, work well together, and hang out in paintball just like they do in airsoft.  It's a different hobby, but the sociology is the same!

You're too young to show up at official AA games...but feel free to show up at an open game. There won't be one this weekend due to Lion Claws IV and OP: Dark Harvest, but there will be something next weekend, I'm sure. I was the new guy last weekend, and that won't stop for a couple of months probably, so, come be new with me.
