I definately plan to play there July 4th weekend. How 'bout it dudes? Take the Wifey and she can gamble while we get crazy....
I'll make sure to rile up the locals at the Vegas Jungletoy too. Let's make it a target-rich game.

Air-conditioned for yer close-up killin' comfort!
Anyone up?

I'd be interested if I'm not out of the country (probably 50/50 right now).  However, any idea what it looks like?  it's a bit expensive if it's just like another paintball field.  However, if it's actually got some city/officebuilding type things in it that would be really cool.  have you been there moon? Any idea where/how we can get some pictures of the place?

I posted a link at the first of this thread. There's even video clips of the facility.

Basically, it's a series of moveable wooden frames in a building, from what I can see. Might not be fancy, but I've played tactical airgun in similar, and it's a blast.

Where are the video clips? I can't seem to find them.

For the price of $10/hr for simple wooden frames, I'd rather do the Cajun House again (is that deal still available Paco?).  There at least is a real building, and IIRC, it was a lot cheaper per person.  Plus you'd probably get a better turnout.

As for the SWAT house, if they give us a group rate that would be awesome, though I'd probably fly up anyway on a free ticket, so I'm saving the cost of driving, which may be prohibitive for others.  In fact, I may be up there anyway at that time, so if you do plan on going, let me know. However, as a group trip, I don't know if most can (or want to) justify the long trip for only a few hours of rather expensive play.  Heck, Lion Claws is $130 for about 16 hours of gameplay along with the huge AO, camping, and indepth scenarios.  If I'm not gonna be up there as is, I think I'd have to get at least 8-10 hours of play in (probably over 2 days), but that's gonna be $100 without even taking into account spending the night and getting there.

Again, I like the idea and would join you personally since I don't have to worry about getting there, I just worry how many will be willing to make the trek unless we can camp (or stay the night cheaply) and get a discounted rate on play.

Hmm... after watching the video, I don't think I'd pay $10/hr for that, let alone drive out there.  If I do end up in vegas that weekend, I may bring a pistol and go in civies just for a casual shoot-out but I definitely don't think I'd haul all my crap up to vegas to play glorified speedball.  It's a shame... with that space they have so much potential, but it looks like (from the videos) that it just turns into speedball with airsoft guns.  I'll let you know a litle closer to the date, but I'm not sure yet.  Do you think there's any chance they'd give a discount?

Well, anyplace to play indoor in the Valley or Tucson?

The place in Vegas certainly isn't fancy, but fancy isn't what makes the game. As long as you have to shoot and move, deal with hidden threats, rush doorways or figure a way to sucker the other guy out.. -It's the rush that makes it fun, ..And this time of year, air conditioning is great.

Maybe some company like Jungletoy will look at opening an indoor field in Phoenix, Till then, it's a drive.

Indoors just isn't the same. In fact, I don't think I'd like doing indoors type stuff. Besides, who needs air conditioning? The videos are kind of underwhelming for the massive amount of resources that would be necessary for this.

Kamakaze--I am not cutting on you-so dont take it that way. But you seem to be very experianced in A/S gaming. Perhaps if you went to Vegas, maybe you could talk to the owner and see if the idea's you have for what would make a great inddor field could be put to use?
Maybe they are receptive to changes?
I too thought the place looked a bit spartan, but to be honest the hardest games I ever played were indoor. There used to be a (Sorry) paintball place indoor in Tucson. It was a small area, it was an old office space, but they did it right. LOTS of doorways, low entryways, motion detectors hooked to lights, nooks & crannies, even a few sniper points once you found them. The games usually were rescue the hostage-the hostage was a 6 foot tall reather heavy bean bag that sat in one of the larger rooms--I will tell you that the first time I played the place--I was so jacked up on adrenaleline that I couldnt sleep all night!

So maybe a trip to vegas might be a good thing? Like I said, I would bet you have some really good ideas, on how an indoor arena should be.

Well, the only other local option was this place called the "Cajun House".  Paco got us a deal there a while back where we got to each pay about $10-15 each (total) and we got to use their facilities for about 4-5 hours.  It's a Pohoenix nightclub that's laid out with a cobblestone street leading to the main stage, with rows of building facades on both sides that serve as bars when it's open.  Plus, on one side, it was two stories, so, though it wasn't quite an office building, it did offer an interesting environment.   I think the best part was the creative scenarios that we tried.  We had some escort/assassination scenarios, we had a north hollywood robbery scenario, and we did a bunch of other CTF-type games.  We did ahve to clean up the BBs afterwards, but with a few brooms and shop-vacs, it was pretty easy.  I dont' remember the exact turnout, but I seem to think it was around 25.  I believe StoneagleWolf (Mark) also used the same facility at some point, so if people are up for cqb and the cajun house is still willing, I think that would be a much better option since it eliminates driving, etc.  Another CQB environment we used is called "The Ranch", which was a collection of abandoned ranch houses, but I'm not sure what the status of that land is.  Plus, since it's abandoned and in the middle of the desert, it's really hot, though I always have a great time playing there.  If it came down tot choosing, I'd pick the cajun house over swathouse, but like I said, I may be up there anyway, and will probably at least go for an hour or two with my pistol.

One thing that strikes me as odd is that there are no mentions of fps that I saw and they seem to make a big deal about removing orange barrel paint.  Do they even allow outside guns?

Edit:  My point of comparison for SWAT house is the numerous facilities in the UK that combine buildings and outdoor environments (none of which I have experienced firsthand, unfortunately).  Perhaps an unfair comparison due to the popularity of airsoft there.  I agree completely Flash - if they had lights and motion sensors and things it would be really cool, but as far as I can tell, they don't, and they just use a maze of plywood walls with minimal furniture at the swat house.

I've been to that  place in Tucson that Flash talked about. It was called Diamond in the Rough. Great, great fun!

If there comes a place in the Valley like that, I can say I'll be there at least twice to three times a month. They'll have to charge enough to pay for the bulding lease, electricity, insurance, wear n' tear, and of course make a profit. !0.00/hour is fair in my estimation.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas, Swat House, 5 July. I'll call tomorrow to confirm the date and get a time.
Happies,
Chip

Got it set up for July 5th. We'll be there from 5pm-on. They said they close at 9, but if there's a good game going, will stay open longer.
No orange barrel thingies, as it's a private field.
Use own guns, ammo, anything goes.
See website for details.
See you there!
