« on: May 27, 2005, 12:33:06 PM »
Do we have any 40K players in Tucson?  I'm talking the table top game, not the computer version.  :)

I do, however I haven't played in quite some time as most of the stores here are closed.

Ah, I don't even bother with the stores much.  You can get things direct from GW.  It may not be quicker, but you always have a garaunteed selection.  ;)

What force do you play?  How many points?

Just saw this thread.  I just started playing WH40K before I left for the military and lost all hope of finding anyone to play with.  I also play Orks, but right now I only have a Warboss and a squad of Sluggas and one of Shootas, but since it seems that I have finally found someone else who plays I might actually get back into the game.  Will have to have my parents mail me my units.  Also, just wondering but do any of also happen to play any RPG's (pen and paper not video game) or Magic: The Gathering?  I used to (havent found anyone to play with down here) play D&D as a Dwarven Vindicator, and I also used to play Vampire: The Masquerade.  I have the handbook for V:TM and I have the complete set of D&D 2nd Edition rules on burned CD's (like $100 value) containing all the D&D rulebooks with everything you would ever need to know about D&D. Yes I know....Im a major geek

That's ok.  I have played DoW and I do like it, although they don't have my army in it yet.  Hopefully they'll fix that soon.  :)

I am in the Tempe?mesa area and play 40k. I have IG, and am considering doing a tau force. I have always wanted to do orks but I understand that late next year there is supposed to be an ork revamp so I am waiting. Haven't played in a while.

Tau is a good shooter army.

Myself, I run a witchhunter army.  They are very stylized and standout quite well on the feild.

Is you IG force mostly men or tanks?

My IG is pretty well balanced, Men, Tanks, and some forgeworld kits, like a vulture and a Valkyrie, Orgyns, Commissars, I think I even have an unbuilt forgeworld bomber somewhere around here, like a marauder or one of those. It's all packed away right now so I can't check.

Go play Dawn of War, and you'll pickup on some of the stuff they're talking about.

I agree with Fire.  It can be a little hard to explain to someone over the internet.  In person it is a lot easier, especially if you can watch someone play it.  That is how I got hooked.  My friends back home play it and I had always thought of checking it out and one day they played a short game and I watched and once I saw how you play I was hooked.  When we all took a trip the The Guild (a gaming store in harrisburg, PA) I bought the units I have now.  To try and help you though, IG (Imperial Guard) are humans plain and simple.  Tau are a race of aliens who are highly technologically advanced.  Not really sure about witchhunters, but I belive i saw somewhere that they are sort of sided with the Space Marines and fight the Chaos (please correct me if Im wrong). I saved the best for last, and the ones I can tell you the most about.  Orks...green-skinned brutes who are completely centered on warfare on bloodshed.  They span the entire galaxy and easily outnumber any other race.  If it wasnt for the fact that they are SO bent of warfare that they fight themselves, they could easily over-run any other civilization.  Their weaponry is primitive at best.  Orks revel in loud noises, and blood so they will even brag over whos gun is the shootiest (shoots the most bullets), has the most dakka (makes the most noise) and etc.  Of course all of this Im doing from memory, so I suggest you just go to: http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40K/default.htm

ORKZ RULE!!

I am partial to the Eldar, but that is only based on the game, Dawn of War. Cool little race. I also adore the Space Marines, but that is becuaes I like to play the game more tactical(2 marine squads can kick serious ass when completely upgraded with 1 heavy bolter, 2 plasma rifles, and a rocket launcher per squad). Gotta love having Land Raiders go in and finish the job. I was never able to get into that boardgame craze like that. Airsoft is my hobby, and I spend enough money on that alone.

Like i said before, if you have Dawn of War, hit me up, and we can have a game.
