This is the kind of ignorance that tears the country apart. "All the liberals I have met were complete idiots." Now, did you engage in a political discussion with them regarding their views, or did you make some sort of conjecture about their political affiliation by the way they acted socially? In addition, saying that they "hated this country" is pretty ridiculous. I consider myself a moderate Liberal, yet I actually supported Bush in this last election (If only in spirit :P). Many people simply do not agree with the way this country is being run, they don't hate America.

In addition, drilling in Alaska is not going to solve our oil problems in the long term. There needs to be more government control with America's oil companies, like Exxon Mobil. I don't know if you realize this, but they were in the top 10 highest grossing company in 2004, right behind Wal Mart. Now, if you think they are not gouging the hell out of us, you would be very naive. Furthermore, drilling in Alaska only temporarily shores up a deeper diplomatic problem that America has in the Middle East.

Alas, the thread is slowly moving off topic. I don't mean this as a personal attack, but I really don't like it when people overgeneralize about 50% of the population into a group of "America haters." If anything, I find that liberals tend to be more educated and well-rounded than many conservatives.

Outrageous! What you tend to find, and what is statistically correct. Now my government teacher was very liberal, and very opinionated, and very smart. But one thing she taught us was the national statistics:

 Liberal or Conservative:  Educated- Most likely to be conservative
                                     Uneducated-Most likely to be liberal

                                     Religous- Most likely to be conservative
                                    Not Religous- Most likely to be  liberal

                                   Above poverty line- Most likely to be conservative
                                   Below poverty line- Most likely to be  liberal

Now these are all statistics that I've looked up. So, just so know man, you can't go around making generalizations just from what you've seen. Chack the facts, that I've shown you and you decide who is the most "well rounded" from these three examples.

Those are actually the two threads I kept my nose out of... It was more fun to watch them tear at each other... Those are also probably my two favorite threads...some of the people in there are just plain dumb. I have to say, as I get old I realize political stereotypes are just that, although I am sure in my lifetime I won't see a liberal or a independant take office, let alone a black person or a woman.

It is very clear from the posts, who has had schooling in (or has a firm grasp on) logic and who has not. Anyone versed in logic will avoid the use of absolutes in their argument because they know it negates them completely. Those with the gift are annoyed because they understand that they only have to provide one example in order to negate an absolute position, and continue to do so, without having the other person(s) realize they have been smited.
