TM Glock 18C AEP
« on: June 20, 2005, 02:26:45 PM »
I did a search and found little discussion of this so...

All this talk about pistol only games has gotten me in the mood to buy a pistol but, I'm not in the mood to buy gas and fill my magazines and fix cracked seals and o'rings and blah blah blah.

So I wanted to stick to something I know well.  Charging up a battery, plugging it in, and shooting the weapon.  So I looked at the Glock 18C AEP.  I found it at Depot 53 for $134.99 (http://www.depot53.com/products/5/355?cat=9).  $134.99 is a lot of money to spend on a gun I've heard little to nothing upon.

So is it really worth the $134.99 I'd spend on the gun plus another $60 on spare mags and an extra battery?  Does it compare with a GBB accuracy and range wise?  Is it easier to maintain than a GBB?  Would I need an extra battery?

Not really, and it sounds silly and doesnt go pop pop pop. Get a KJW glock and you will be set, for the same price you can get a G23 full metal with trades and an extra mag. Its really not that expensive to buy gas.. and orings only wear out on players that don't maintain their shit and use propane. I used redgas in my P14(plastic) for about 8 months...Never had a leaky mag, never busted a seal or anything but a hammer for that matter. Get a KJW G23/G26/27 whatever and you will be set. Use redgas for some kick ass power. Even stock these guns pack a wallop and have some awesome kick and range. Ask anyone at last saturdays game. Me, Greg and Studder own one, and although mine is a little more powerful(due to ported valves) they all can range the same as an AEG.

Heck, I pack a KJW M9. Thing cost $60 bucks, and I gave Andy a welt. He was shooting the same gun, and it put a hole in my hand in a different game. Get a GBB you won't regret it.

The new AEP's are great!!! But to good for what they are for. I heard that when doing upgrades just give it the tight bore and the brushings to increase ROF and FPS dont do the spring because it uses up the battery to fast. But as I was saying the pistol is to good. What I mean by this is that as a pistol is for close range. However, this can be used much like a regular AEG. It has no blow back, and can be used for a spray and pray long range gun. This defeats the purpose of milsim realizm!!! The very reason on why we play airsoft. Its just an unrealistic gun!!! I have been having this debate with myself since the AEP was first released. I have to say I would like another accurate  and consistant pistol. So the hi cap, and the SIG come to mind. Since I will be a DPS officer it might be best for me to go and buy a SIG Sauer to get use to it. I used a KWA glock17 mag for 5 years with no problems till I lost it. Seal goes bad if you dont take care of your gun!!!

I'm not looking to spray and pray with this thing.  Hell, I'm probably never going to use the full auto function during skirmishes.

I'm looking to get this thing out of convenience.  Everything I need for it (battery and magazines) can be easily carried in a small pouch.

But I'm worried about the performance of it.  Busta, as well as Gantaliano, illustrated the performance of GBBs.  But what about the performance of an AEP?  Like Airsofter1 said, have any of you actually used the AEP?  I haven't, and that's why I'm asking these questions.

Pryde has one and so far he hasn't had any issues with it.  :)

Frankly, I'd recommend a non-blowback if you do go gas.  They are cheaper and you have less degradation of seals to worry about and fewer moving parts that go bad.  :)

The mag unloads in like 5-7 seconds on full auto. It's so much fun. My friend got one and it is nice but if I were to ever get an AEP I would wait for new ones to come out. TM has a USP AEP coming out soon...

I went to my friend's house the other day. He has an AEP, cost him a good price, not $100 but about as much as a decent GBB. I shot it, and frankly...it sucked. It was a Taurus, and wow, I shot myself with it just to feel it, and....I've felt more pain from a springer at 30ft.

The blowback looked so fake too. I felt like I was in some kind of simulation.

So, unless you know this is a really high quality pistol, stay away from it.

Just my 2cents.

That's an EBB, not an AEP, Ryan.

Just saying, they're totally different. AEPs have little gearboxes and shit, and...EBBs just suck.
