Former Tucson Airsoft pics
« on: June 27, 2005, 04:00:09 PM »
For everyone who were all part of the short lived but great team that was Tucson Arisoft, Here are some photos that I took at one of our last weekends at the creek. Ive had these for some time, but Ive never thought of posting them, because they have no relevence towards the current team I am with, SATAC. There are few actual photos of the time we had at this place, and the place was honestly the best I have ever played at. Theres nothing like being able to play every weekend at a place only 15 mins away, but seemed as if it were half way across the world. I have great memories of driving home every saturday with water and river sand in my boots.

Anyway, use these pictures to remember how it used to be.

It was actually a piece of privatley owned property near the ventana canyon area. I think its the part of the sabino canyon river that runs down into tucson. The downside was, that there were too many buildings in the vacinity (Its almost in the middle of a community) so to say the least someone eventually complained. So even though the owner gave us the permission to play there, the community was against it, and we could never play there again. At least we got to play there for around four months before someone complained.

Ive always been looking for another similar area, with running water, and lush riparian vegitation. I occasionally grow tired of the same desert scene, and would kind of like a "jungle" to play in again. :)
Theres really nothing else like it. It is so much different than an open desert battle. There is a different kind of mood, and a different kind of fear. Because with all of the dense, green vegitation you are emersed in, you have no idea of knowing if the enemy is lurking in the distance, or right on top of you. The vines and leaves hide you and your enemies as well. You learn to tread quietly, and not to brush branches loudly. And at any moment, enemy fire can seem to come out of nowhere, and start clipping off pieces of your surrounding vegitation. :)

Cool.
If that place has the same type of vegitation, then it would be perfect. Its close enough from tucson and from pheonix, so it shouldnt be hard to get to. If you can tell me exactly where it is, I might just have to go and take a look at it.

I think its the santa cruz river that crosses the avra valey exit. That place looks pretty promising, and I may have to check it out. If I go, Im also going to scout up the river a bit so see if there is an even larger area.
I looked at some satelite photos, and I think that there is an even larger place upstream a couple miles.

Merc and I checked out the one by Avra Valley and I10. Even though it is very heavy green growth there is a reason it hasn't been used for airsoft.... It is within visual range of a major roadway.

For myself and Merc that presents too much of a chance of having LE involved at one point or another and causing more bad publicity for airsoft.

I found a place that is alot larger, and farther from the highway. There are no structures around for about a mile, except for a small field. Since it is on state land, it is legal to hunt and play there. Im sure that if we stay in the boundries of the trees, no one will really see us.

Not to mention that the river that flows through there is poopie water.....why do you think it is all soooo green?   There is a few good places to play there that I saw driving by.  You could dissapear in there, and no one will know.  I sometimes seee paintballers go into there.  Might be promising if you decide NOT to go swimming...ewwww.

It was once believed that Chuck Norris actually lost a fight to a
pirate, but that is a lie, created by Chuck Norris himself to lure more pirates to him. Pirates never were very smart.

I agree. That all flows from the sewage plant.

This area seems to be the same water. Not sure anyone wants to play in areas where diseases may lurk.

I think it may be cool if we stay away from the water....there is grasslands, and trees aplenty far from the flowing crap water.

What about the lower section of the Sabino Canyon river? where does that end at?

Also on the backside of the Catalinas out past oracle maybe?

I'll start on it but if anyone else can find out anything it would really help all of us.

In the Tanque Verde area, a few spots. And near Sabino canyon.

Wait I know a really good spot, but its an old pb field. This place backs up to the Pantano washbed. nice with vegetation so I've done some filming in that area for school projects. I dont remember the roads. But the problem is it's inside of citylimits.

I will update on a location thats close to me,and that Pryde&Reaver check this area out.
