That would be a bit hard to execute. You'd need a way to split the nade, propel the spinning part, and still have room for bb's and the feed mechanisms. It would probably have to be fairly large, wich would mean it would be heavy. If you look at this site nder pyrotechnics, you can see an airsoft grenade that is explosive powered. www.tea-and-medals.co.uk
A way to do it here would be to replce the explosive with a gas chamber with a bunch of nozzles. The bb shooter would be colored bright orange or a similar color, and you would have replacable grenade *shells* that would go over it.
Still complex. You could also remove bb's entirely from the above setup, and just have the gas rupture the *shell*. The shell would be like paper mache or somthing, thin and no more hazardous than a bb.

Another Idea

Another idea is to use water and to build up pressure in the cannister.  Have little holes on the outside of the grenade and after using a timer open the holes.  With higher pressure in the cannister, the water would explode outward through the holes and whoever is hit with water is out.

What do you think?

John the problem with those is in engineering a timing mechanism small enough to not take up too much room, strong enough to hold back the forces you are talking about and not misfire upon impact after a quick toss. There are a ton of ways to propell the bbs but no solution to the timer problem. I have one of the gas powered ones and it does all right but is not the end all solution.

This guy makes what looks like some good grenades, pretty cheap too. I'll have to buy a few and test em out once the new one comes out...

Thats a video of the grenades from milsimlabs.
They are supposed to be about $1.50 each.
But you can  only use them about 2-3 times before you have to buy a new one. Same basic design as a paintball grenade.

Looks like the BB discharge comes out the bottom.

That would make it fairly directional, and would not be good for frag use.

Coupled with the expensive pricetag, I don't expect to see any on AA fields anytime soon.

My feelings exactly... The only place it might be good is in a CQB Scenario, even then if you toss this through a door or window it might land butt end first into a corner...
