Also, after the convoy accident, they were air lifted by a huey? Didn't they get taken out of service after Vietnam?
I have seen hueys used before. Infact there is a small army base in phoenix that has 5 or 6 of them that they use or at least that was in the 90s. It's a good aircraft, cant see why they would not use them if they have them.
I work at this "small Army base", and the only hueys I see on the flightline right now are Marine birds. "Used to" is right, we haven't had them for 10 years.
There ARE still Hueys in service in the Army, but they aren't being used in Iraq AFAIK. They are used as transports, support birds for other aircraft, and for firefighting (BAMBI bucket). The Marine Hueys are not the same, they have 2 engines, are painted grey, and often times have FLIR turrets on the nose.
My guess is that the Army said "No, you cannot have a Blackhawk for your dumbass TV show."
And, since I have not seen it, would someone like to describe this M203 scene to me?
