How long have you hiked?

I Just got back from a 10 day backpacking trip and was wondering what is the longest you have ever hiked? For me 20 miles in one day. and 70 in 10.

I spent 14 days in the field and traveled 90 miles once.

The fact you did such a task at your age, outside the military is impressive to say the least!

I think I probably top out around 20 miles a day as well. For SF Qualification had to do 10 miles in under 2 1/2 hours, that was rough. I couldn't even guess how far I have gone in like a 10 day period before.

I did a 26 mile marathon I'd say probably around a 17-18 mile HIKE though.

In 1983, I hiked from Cameron to Lake Mead thru the entire Grand Canyon.
Took three weeks, avg something like 10mi/day over technical terrain.

Longest I hiked in one day was about 25 miles, Sheep Bridge across the Mazatzals when I was 17.

Hmm, in or out of the military?  I had to do a 20 mile force march once with the Marines (yes, that was fun)... in Fort Huachucha none-the-less.

  Civilian wise, I'd say roughly a 5 day stint and about somewhere between 12-15 miles in the White Mountains.

I have done all of my hiking in the Boy Scouts. The 10 day backpacking trip that i did was in cimmaron new mexico. Also what is the highest peak that you have climbed. For me Mt. Baldy in new mexico 12,441 feet high. I wound up going up 2000 feet in just under a mile and a half.

I was based at Fort Wegotcha' and had a REMBASS unit training op, in the surrounding hills.  It was winter, and began to rain slush. (God it was cold and wet)  I would have never believed it possible but I actually fell asleep while marching a 20 mile hike in full gear.  I missed the turn off point by 1/4-1/2 mile and just kept on going(asleep,mind you) and my buddy Shaheen had to come after me and wake me up!  That was nutz.

I climbed a 14,000 some foot peak in Colorado's Rocky's I dont remember the name I'll find out and edit my post later.

I never really had the chance to go on a big hike. Biggest for me is Camelback and Squaw Peak. I did have friend who's dad went 25 miles in Alaska on a backpacking trip in one day to get to the next camp spot and started coughing up blood. He told me he really thought he was going to die right there. Lucky he got to a small town who called to get a chopper in there to get him. Scary stuff! :shock:

I've done somewhere around 20 miles in one day during an elk hunt (in bad boots). Thank goodness I didn't kill anything while were 5 miles off the road. It would have sucked to pack that thing back.

I did a 23-mile round trip hike through the bush in Ethiopia to a mountain that peaked at 10,200ft it took me and 3 others 6am-6pm. The one Ethiopian we took on our trip got a bad case of puss-itis right before we ascended the mountain and ran home.

On an elkhunt I have dubbed the indian peak wilderness death march.    We climbed 7,000 feet in 6 miles 1 of which was flat and 2 miles were 2 feet deep in snow, and the rest was straight up and down, it took just over 4 hours with 50 lb packs. And to add insult to injury we never even saw any sign of elk  :x.
