Green Gas vs. Propane
« on: August 05, 2005, 12:38:12 PM »
What are your thoughts on the "green gas is propane" debate, if you could call it a debate.

have any of you used regular propane in place of green gas?  if so, what's your experience.

The reason I ask is I saw this propane adapter here

http://www.airsoft-innovations.com/?page=products&id=AI-01&PHPSESSID=09009de35298decff1a2d3c4dac34b15

and if propane really works just like green gas, I think the $30 on it would be well worth it, since american propane is like $2-3 a liter (as opposed to the $10 a can at JT)

ME and a couple of the guys on my team swear by it it a little more powerfull and cheaper. You just need to put some silcon spray in you clips valve to prevent oring breakage.

Propane is great.  I don't think i've ever used green gas in my pistol.  Propane is great, and powerful.

Afterall, green gas is just propane with some silicone oil added to it.  For the mostpart.

From all I've seen, Green Gas is just propane bottled at a lower pressure.

I use the Airsoft Innovations adapter and a few drops of silicone oil made for R/C car's shocks. (Get it at a hobby shop).

The U.S. propane gives all my guns more "kick" and costs next to nothing compared to the Jap stuff.

I'm glad I switched. Now, I don't feel ripped off by a can that costs $11.00, U.S. propane is $2.18/can and cheaper yet with a larger tank and a Harbor Freight small bottle filler.  8)

Who knows? maybe Green Gas will be gone from our local airsoft store's inventory someday, Right Ron?

Actually,

Propane shoots a tab bit harder (higher PSI), yet it will get cold faster and therefore drop pressue.

Green Gas, in the long run will keep you FPS grouping more together.

After about 100 degrees Propane takes expenential power and will shoot very much harder than GG. But like i said it will get cold and screw you. But its cheap and I use it.

PP   GG
289             281
285               282
283               281
273               277
275               280

Here are some chrono results from airsoft inovation's page.

I do see the slight drop in fps, which probably would be much lower by the end of the clip.

I use propane and it works great in my KJW M9.

I won't spend 15 bucks on a can of Green Gas ever again!
