The wall is a moving experience in itself.

Its been probably about 8 or 9 years since I was there, but I still remember one thing vividly.

When walking to it, as soon as you saw it, you were silent.  nobody could say a word again.  it was kind of eerie, but at the same time, exactly what it deserves.

I was there earlier this summer, all the memorials, and the new WWII memorial. Went to Arlington Cemetary to see the changing of the guard. Very moving - it definately makes you stop and think.

Per my previous post on this thread, yes...  I set out on foot and saw much of the DC area.  A METRO day pass and a pair of good walking shoes is an amazing combo in the area.  When I was there, the WWII memorial was just being finished (not open) but one could certainly see enough to be humbled.  I went back a 2nd time after, and it is truly amazing.  When you say, "the Wall," you're talking about the Vietnam memorial, correct?  The design and visual impact is something with no comparison.  Each inscribed name bears a status symbol, some indicating MIA, very few bear "Returned."  Walking along the mirror-polished marble to the apex, it starts low, then progresses till it's taller than you are...  A few names become multitudes.  I should resize and link a few images from my visit if anyone's interested.
