and it would help to put it in the Gas powered gun section... if you are talking about the gas ones that is, but basically they are shell you put bb's in... then you put gas in there like a GBB mag and they sorta of give a shower of bb's, simply put..

He's a noob(forum wise) so he can't post new topics. But that question is better off under a different topic, not a game topic. Check out gas guns, or aegs, maybe under accessories.

In case, you didn't get the answer you were looking for, John. I'll explain how they work at the RSD game this weekend.  I no longer have one, but I used to have a G&P M203 shorty that I used with the CA and MM 165 rounders.

The whole setup belonged to CAG D Boy.

I'm sure someone there will have a 203 you can take a look at.

203's with howlers and alot of practice and skill can be FUN AS FUCK. A thought of Lt Jordan, Ian, And I huddled behind a rock at LC4 comes to mind...and the words "RPGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG" being screamed by one of us.  :D

I only been to a couple of games now but I haven’t seen a lot of people with 203s or any launchers for that matter. Think the first game I saw one launcher, can’t recall any at the last though.

Anyways, are the launchers worth having? I have not seen any showers of BBs; though have not seen many launchers so that could be why. Are they useful? Or if not useful fun? - Joseph

unlike a real 203 think of the airsoft one as more of a shotgun if you will... its good for close range spray.... it can come in handy

I have the G&P M203 Long version.  If you use the BB's in the shells the effect is more like a large shot gun.  But I Prefer to use the howler.  This is similar to what a real m203 is used for.  With practice and timing they can sometimes be pretty accurate.  Accurate in the sense that there is a “blast radiusâ€￾ associated with the howler.  The “radiusâ€￾ is determined by the game organizer, but usually is between 10 to 20 feet.  Just like the rest of Airsoft, this is done on the honor system, and we all know that is what keeps this sport going and growing.

On a side note, there was this one time in Prescott that the radius did not matter for me since the round hit my target in the forehead.  Like I said earlier “timingâ€￾ is important.

Just to let you know, Nerf no longer makes the “Howlersâ€￾ that are used.  This makes acquiring them very difficult.  They still make the small football, but these do not make any noise as they are coming in on target.  Which for me is what makes carrying the entire set up worth while.

When using the Howler, they must be stuffed down the front of the barrel and the shell, with the gas inside, is breach loaded as normal.  The pressure inside the barrel is what causes the Howler to launch.  I estimate the Howler can travel near the 75 meter mark, but I have never actually measured the distance.

I hope this helps answer your question.

I have a howler launcher and an a mini M203 launcher.

I've gotten only a handfull of kills with the M203 because it's not accurate at all at more than 30 ft. However, by the same token, I've often used it as a very excellent scare technique. There have been a number of time where I've been exchanging fire with people and I need to advance towards and objective quickly, and couldn't afford to have a firefight. So I fired the launcher in their direction, hear to something to the effect of "Oh s***" and they would dive for cover for at least 5-10 seconds. That would allow me a small window to move either closer to the objective, or to a more advantageous postition and take them out quickly.

The howler launcher I must say is awesome. Not sure of the exact range on it, but that fact that mine uses a whole C02 cartridge per shot, I think it might even travel a little farther than what Shado posted. But it's definately more effective for taking out small bands of enemies. :D

Yes, the howler is the primary reason to use a 203.  I believe the reason being Kobo you havent seen many out there is due to the fact that nerf has stopped making the nerf howler, as Eric(Shado) has said.  This is important for the 203 to work properly.  With out the screaming whistle of the round, no one knows to look up to see if they are in the blast radius. They still have the nonhowler football. But when you fire one it can hit 5ft. behind an enemy and they would be clueless to the fact that they are dead because there is no whistle to let them know to look around.  And howlers tend to break after so many uses, thats why I think many have hung up the 203 for now, untill a propper replacement round can be found.

But yes as others have said, a 203 round can be very effective and the whistle of the round adds to the feel.  Eric is one of the best 203ers that I have seen and that shot to the forehead was indeed awesome!
