Wanted: OP & Meeting place Photos.
« on: October 30, 2005, 02:06:24 PM »
Mainly if anyone has good wide shots of ops, turnoffs, etc. I'm trying to make a "how to get to the area" webpage.

I kinda feel bad that the guy on the motorbike didn't make it yesterday. I missed the turnoff myself.

As with most AOs, it's a good idea to NOT post public info regarding it's location.

We won't be able to use that AO for awhile until we get some info straightened out with the Forest Service regarding tyhe true definition of "biodegradeable" materials.

Just some food for thought.

Speaking of police, as Curtis and I were leaving we saw an MCSO SUV dog unit headed toward your area. Was there a problem?

Did they tell you bidegradeable materials are meant to be picked up,  and that it just because they decompose doesn't mean anything?

I have a letter somewhere that basically stated it was cool to play in the Nat'l forest, provided we do not enter the "no-human zone."   I'll just bring that to games from now on.

I'd like a copy of this letter.

Woody, I never saw such an SUV.  Maybe they were going somewhere else.

I do remember the guy saying that the area was designated a "no-human" zone because of all the bikers and atv'ers. Oh well, I hope we can play there again.

I've mulled over the benefits and drawbacks of posting AOs, and i'm going to make it a semi-private situation.

Frankly tho i'm tired of the secrecy causing people to not truly know where they're going. In my view this is something that needs to be fixed.

As for paintball on national forest land it's not against national forest rules. They've got no right allowing recreational firearm shooting and not us since lead is far less biodegradable than our "very slowly biodegradable" BBs.

They would have a better argument saying we posed a danger to the bikers. Even tho it's not a human-closed area on any forest map i've seen.

Frankly I would have said "Fine sir, then ticket me for littering or be on your way", officials only lecture you when they "dislike" what you do but have no true recourse under the rules. (IE. a cop doesn't bother to lecture you on speeding, he just writes you a ticket, unless he's a real jerk then he does both).

I think the pathfinder AO is nice, except for the abundance of idiots on bikes, it was at least a good attempt to find someplace new.

I know a few places if anyone wants to do some recon for me, i'm too damn busy with other crap.

I'm not debating that. But I was part of the second caravan and all three of us missed the turnoff.

I'm not complaining about anyone elses lack of action, i'm doing something I want to do.. *shrug*

I guess I'm confused here, because I don't see how you providing directions will help anyone find the AO if they couldn't follow the first set of directions posted on the original thread.

I'm not being a smartass here, I'm just playing Devil's Advocate.

It seems to me that you have an answer waiting for a problem.

Yeah, we need to make sure the convoy stays tight.
Yeah, we should have made sure everyone knew the route beforehand.
Yeah, this is your own doing, and would be helpful.
But we shouldn't have to hold anyone's hand here.

I think the post that makes the most sense in this entire thread is woody pointing out that we've gotten lazy in the recent past, and not made sure everyone knew the route.

It was a new AO, and only a few of us knew the way.  When games are there from now on, and you don't know where it is - ASK BEFORE WE HEAD OUT!
