AEX SD
« on: November 05, 2005, 05:07:40 PM »
As you all know, I've been in San Diego since the summer. AEX just opened a store here last month and I finally got a chance to go check it out. It's only about 7 miles from my place. I've been a long time customer of theirs, since I used to live near San Jose, where they started. This is the third one of their stores I've checked out, and it is even better than the others were last time I was in.

I managed to get two parts for my m4 that I've been wanting for a long time- a selector switch and a decent, high, not-too-expensive aimpoint mount. Both are available from HK, but I never got around to ordering from WGC, and imho, it is kinda stupid to have to order those sorts of little parts from across the Pacific. They had two options for AR15 selectors and tons of aimpoint mounts. I ended up getting G&G parts for both. Their stores are like walk-in versions of WGC's website. I payed exactly the same prices WGC and others show on their site, but without shipping. I also got to check out all of the guns that we have been mail-ordering like the CA M249's, UMG's, XM8's (including the infamous pink one), M14's, etc, etc, etc.

We need something like them in AZ.  :-k

You could just go to SGC and pretend that everything on the walls is airsoft stuff...

That's pretty much what an AEX store is like, just a bit smaller.

Me too. I moved from having the original AEX like 45 minutes away to AZ with no shops at all! The situation is, of course, improving.

Not to mention all of the other liberties that we enjoy that CA airsofters only dream of.  8)

But do the people at the AEX store know what they are talking about?  Because the employees at SGC have never been helpful for me.  They have may have cool stuff, but their staff is less than knowledgeable I find.

Ok.. maybe not the best comparison- the people definitely know what they are talking about. I agree that SGC guys are for the most part worthless when it comes to gun info. I was just comparing the stores themselves and the feeling you get looking at the walls full of joy in either.

Hmmm ..... I suppose that will be nice to have a safety,on the other hand I always like the line in Blackhawk Down, "This is my safety, sir." Maybe you could find somehting to make that freaking ICS M4 shoot more than 250 fps. I should have left that thing in the field the night i fell on it and broke it.

I have spoke to Andrew several times on this subject. You all remember Andrew with the pink XM8. He seemed interested. The problem I think with having a store now is all the JT's or SAD and the lack of professional players. SAD, and JT were made for the Noob/ novice airsofter.  A store would still work here. But it would not do so well compaired to the other stores in CA. We dont have the fields here like they do, and the Airsoft population here is small in compairison. The only professional players here are us pretty much. However, if the store here would still be getting business from CA  then it would work.

I need a selector so that i can switch it off of auto. Shooting indoors at Irene was a bitch. As far as the ICS, you need to learn to fix that thing.  ;)
