Would anyone be willing to give me a ride to the A.O? I am more than happy to pay for gas.

Where are you located??

Im not sure if there is anymore room on US forces, but if there was, Id be bringing my recently completed .30 browning MG.

But If I do git stuck with the afganies, then I guess the MG42 will have to suffice.

Or I could bring both. :D

Tack bolger and I down on the roster for now.

But im still not too partial towards head garments.

M-79'r, I would not think its unlikely that some Afgans would be using a .30 Browning.  Every once and a while you see a pics of one of them running around with some WW2 era left over.  Heck, I even believe the Turkish Special Forces were using M3 Grease Guns so old that the finish was worn down to a polished look not too long ago.

As mentioned several times before, weapons and gear are up to the individual.

Yes, you can wear a tac vest.

Thats probably more true than one would think. We gave so much of our left over WW2 equiptment to isreal that its not even funny. In the 70s and early 80s nearly half off all of their armor consisted of our old m3 halftracks left over after korea. We even gave them the machines to make the stuff. Look at their helmets, their equiptment harnesses, and other little things too. It sure rings a close tone to what we were using back then.

-My browning .30 that I recently completed actually was one of these instances. We gave it (along with thousands of others) to them after ww2 and eventually I came along and bought it back as a parts kit, complete with isreali restampings and re-chambered for .308 nato-

Also, Mikey!
You may already know this, but in one form or another the good 'ol m3 grease gun is still in service in our military in one way or another. In even up to the most recent gulf war some tankers chose to carry them along because of its ever popular compactable design and ability to be packed into tight spaces inside armored vehicles. The us military still has a bunch of them sitting inside a warehouse, waiting to be called back into service. :)
