I just blew 150 bucks upgrading my SRC M4 with a 120 Spring and CA gears and a new body to prevent wobbling.  I bought an extra battery too so that is 30 bucks, and I forgot about my red dot that was 40 bucks.  That's like $700!!!!!!  AHHHHHHH!!!!

Yeah, we agree on alot, just don't rag on my lowly SRC!!

So, it's not really an SRC anymore is it?

I was the same way with my Marui M4.  I loved it, then it broke.  It wasn't until every external piece was replaced that I was happy with it.

For my latest M4 variant, I bought a Classic Army and didn't have to do a damn thing to it except add some toys and a paintjob.

Airsoft is about Honesty, integrity,Good group of guys then Milsim everything else is trivial in my book, The guys that I know and run with in airsoft all have those qualities. So just Because you buy an SRC doesnt mean you lack in those areas but when you open a flood gate sometimes its hard to control what happens ;)

I agree completely.
Also in the past 8 months to a year there have been so many new guys entering into airsoft here that I have yet to meet everyone.  In the past it was easy to find the new guy and give him a sense of airsoft direction, you know give him some tips and make them feel welcomed.  Lately I find that it is harder to do so due to the large numbers.  I dont know maybe we could pair up some new guys with some vets at some games here and there? I would call someone a "vet" who shares those qualities that Dave listed above.  Cause the worst thing that I can imagine is having new guys work with a new guy who has a poor attitude and  thinking this is how airsoft is.

I think i have speant about $1300 total on gear and a gun for just the Dec. 17th Red Sleigh Down. I am a serious player and i know why i want to get into airsoft. Airsoft is still EXTREMELY expensive as my bank account balance will tell you but only the dedicated players are the ones who are willing to spend vast amounts of money to play.

I think as long as the rules remain the same, the game will not change into a shoot em up run and gun free for all.

I don't think thats true.

Admittidely, many of the people who I consider "dedicated players" happen to fit your definition of spending a lot, but I don't think that is a requirement, per se.

Dedication can be shown in many different ways.

Yes, like by coming up with well thought out senerios, hosting games, helping to set up games, giving new guys some tips or just welcoming them out and ect.

Me either.

Guys that are dedicated AND can afford to spend that much, do.

If you spend that much, you are dedicated.  If you don't, it does not mean you're not dedicated.

What an interesting conversation this has become.

I think we all agree with whats being said here.  Airsoft for us is about all this.  Sure we could play it like speedball paintball, but why not just play it with paintball then?

What we do here is the reason most of us either skipped or ditched paintball. I love every minute I can spend at a game, even, or at JT. I especially love the sportsmanship we have on the field as of late.

I'll tell you what. The whole SRC thing really pisses me off. Not at the people who bought them (or sell them for that matter), but the company itself. I bought one of the $250 package deals for my wife for her birthday. This is in November and it hasn't worked, not once. It gets test fired once or twice at the store but then that's it, it's dead. Now I know that some may think operator error but, the battery connections have been loose enough to come off during battery installation, the motor wires consistantly disconect and when tightening the motor screw (yeah I'm not sure of the proper name) the grip screws stripped out. I'm going back to JT today (for the 4th time) to see if I can get a working one. Unfortunately, every SRC I've seen has been nothing more that a parper weight at the end of the day. Personally I feel that anything that costs $250 needs to last more than "2-3 months". My Marui MP-5 J cost $265 at AEX when I bought it over a year ago and I have never had a problem with it. Personally I feel that SRC will turn a lot of people away from the sport due to the poor quality. It has almost turned away my wife, who really does (or did) want to play.
