FRS frequency wattage is limited to 0.5 watts.

GMRS radios can transmit up to 5 watts, but you are supposed to have a license to do so (80$ for 5 years, covers you and your immediate family)

Most folks use GMRS and ignore the license.

I use a 2-watt midland myself because it's what I already had.

EDIT: Interesting info, I went pricing 5-watt radios and found that a few manufacturers even go up to 5 watts.

Kenwood, Uniden and Motorola don't make 5-watt GMRS radios. Audiovox supposedly does (GMRS-1525) but I could find no specs online for it (Since it runs on AAAs I doubt it's really 5 watts).

Midland has a 5-watt (GXT500) that runs on 4 AA batteries. I'd go with that if I was buying one today.

ICOM F4S.

Yep.

After using mine, I would NOT even touch another radio for airsoft use.

The F4S is 4 Watts, 1 watt on low power.

Oh, BTW, the F4 is not an FRS, but can be programmed with the Freqs.

Raith, Airsofter1, Ganef, Vince, myself and a few others have seen the light.

Ebay has the best prices.  I got a radio, 2 batts, a charger, and hand mic for about 140 shipped.

Retail is upwards of 400, IIRC.

Its okay okay radio, but I think I'd go with an ICOM F4S if you can get one.

They work. I've used them before and they're good as long as you're not like Lasivian...
