Removing the front sight.
« on: December 13, 2005, 09:44:51 PM »
Can anyone guide me through the removal of the front sight of an sr-16 or m4 type rifle. I am a wee bit confused on how to go about it.

I can't see why you'd remove it! That's the gas block.

:-)

If I'm correct, it's just two rollpins. Punch them out. But, I'm saying that from memory.

Pop out both the long roll pins. Use a punch and hammer or something similar. Then remove the set screw on the underside of the sight. You may need to remove the flashhider to slide it off.

It's a pretty important part on a real AR. If you removed it, you threw a good chunk of your rifles 'realism' out the window.

If memory serves, find your local gun store (which for you will probably be Jensen's or some such) and get an AR-15 carry handle. Real steel one should fit your gun.

EDIT: Crap just realized you're 17. You probably won't be able to purchase the part you require. Hrmm lemme think about this, because I wanted a new carry handle assembly for my CA M15A4, I might just get the tactical AR-15 one I saw and let you have my CA stock one. I'll put another post up Thursday to let you know.

Airsoft parts, yes.

Real steel parts, no.

Tell me JT Tucson carries carry handles, and I'll be a very surprised person. Considering they don't carry more common things (like G36 mags, AK mags, TM guns, CA guns, the list goes on....) I'd be very surprised indeed if they carried the carry handles.

And I'm not offering to *sell* the carry handle to him, I'm offering it to him free.

I don't think you need to be 18 to buy real steel parts. Maybe the gun as a whole, but not the parts.

And I've never been to JT Tuscon, but I know JT Phoenix has them.

Sorry to get off topic ;)

Definitely. It's a little pricey, but it's legit as it gets.
