Okay, I finally tested one of them out and overall I'm impressed. The initial setup is easy once you figure out the broken english on the instruction sheet. It's a fairly simple design and am suprised no one else has come up with this before. Basically, you have two compartments that contain the ingredients. The cap holds the bicarbonate (baking soda) and the grenade holds the citric acid. You have to assemble the cap, but it only takes a minute once you know how. The grenades now come with a power booster which really is just an extension of the cap which allows it to hold more bicarbonate. Basically, once you fill the cap with the bicarbonate you place a smaller cap on the bottom. If you use the power booster, you have to cut an extension tube to fit the power booster. The mechanism for triggering is pretty simple, simply remove the pin which prevents you from pressing the top down, and press down. When you press down the bottom cap pops off allowing the bicarbonate to react with the citric acid which creates CO2. After a few seconds it goes kabloweee!!! The one that I tested I used .20g bbs and filled it to the top. I've heard you get a better spread with .12g bbs. After activating the grenade, I tossed it out into the yard and within 10 seconds the grenade exploded and pieces of the shell flew towards me at about 15 ft away. The bbs were about 7-8 feet away from the grenade with a large clump in the middle. I think I over filled the grenade with about a 200 bbs. I'm actually amazed the reaction took place with the amount of bbs that were present. The sound was loud, but nothing to dramatic. It sounded like someone dropping a flat piece of board on the floor. It wasn't too deafing from my position. Overall, I think these will work great on the field. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!!!
Later,
John
