Pretty cool and it can use smoke instead of paint.  Only thing I can see is that you would have to have a lot of them on the field to have any kills with them.  I mean you have to step on the pressure sensor.  Even in Hi- traffic areas, one will not be very effective.  With that in mind buying several of them can be expensive and detonation would still most likely be rare.

They also work with bbs as well.  Some other airsoft players on another forum were talking about them.

Ah, just like a real land mine.  You bury it and put a light coat of dirt or vegitation over the top, since it needs to be able to expel smoke or bbs. 8)

Anyways thats how I would figure, but can say for sure with out seeing one in person.  Looks like that "tube" on top could be a problem for concealing on bare ground cover.

You'd need several to be worth it, I would think.

That's not the type of thing you can just buy 3 of and hope someone steps on them.

I would like to get some funds going for AA props, and these are something we could use.

I was thinking about land mines a little while back, and the whole idea of trying to cover an area and needing so many is what put me off at first...
And then!  It's bulky and cumbersome, but a flat piece of...something...
a couple feet in each direction laid on top could solve that....make it seperate so you lay the mine then place the "thing" on top and conceal.
Of course, it'd be a pregame set up thing....unless you've got the volcano latched onto the side of a helo it's not a good idea to deploy a mine field in the middle of combat anyway.

That way 3-4 mines could cover a better area....and when staggered in placement...They might make it past the first one but very likely to hit the next unless you didn't conceal well....Daisy chain it to remove a squad :O

At any rate, I think land mines could lead to some additional fun in games, and possibly a new slant to some scenarios.

Or you could simply make your own get a wooden box with holes in the top and put springs on the lid and have it lifted about 1 inch or so up (saran wrap over open sides) and put nails in  the top and Co2 powerlets in the bottom facing up, when somebody steps on it it puncutures co2 which would be coverd in baby powder the nit creates a cloud of powder. Just an idea.

You'd have to step on it pretty hard to puncture a 12 oz CO2 canister with a nail.  Though if you place them on the puncture port, could work. Make a small box just for the co2 canister and a lid with a nail to puncture the port.  Cheap minus the co2 canisters and could be a bit time consuming making the numbers that you would need.

The number of mines needed depends on the situation and area of where one may want to deploy airsoft mines in order to have them to be some what effective.  I would say you would need at least 10 for a small high traffic area.  Ie, near an entrance to a door way.  For a slightly wider area lets say a 50ft X50ft, you would need at least 20 mines to 40.  20 would give you about an 11ft spacing between mines and 40 would be about a 7 ft. spacing.  Still that is a lot of huge gaps.   I like the claymores better, especially for CQB.  Got to love the trip wire : )

it was a cheap prop, but at Phantom Tiger, they had these big ass fucking rat traps with little red survey flags that popped up when you kicked or stepped on them... the little flag said BANG!! and they worked pretty good....  5 bucks gets a bag of them...

that said... I would LOVE to see better and bigger airsoft IED's and mines....  we could even have airsoft EOD.....
