Kicked out of airsoft games?
« on: December 31, 2005, 11:21:02 AM »
My freind and I showed up in full gear with our CAs, LBVs and everything at an airsoft game. When we were there many people liked the idea of us playing, and no one said anything about the idea of two 14 year olds  playing with them, when we went to chrono our guns we were kicked of the feild which wasnt even owned by anyone and some people were pissed. the person that kicked us out said that most people thought we would be hurt by the airsoft guns... we know that we might get a little dazed, thats why we got into this great sport we wont go uh your dead you meanie. I went through four years of millitary school  I believe that I can take a Small plastic BB going 300 feet per second.

Its all about liability, if the person who is organizing the games sets up rules (i.e. age limits) then you have to abide by them.

Organize your own game, but don't be all butt hurt because somebody who organized a game, enforced the rules that they set forth.

Whomever set the rules and enforced them, my hat is off too ya!!  Just goes to show the person was thinking of safety first!!

Indeed. Andy Nailed it right on the head, he should know, he organized a couple handfuls of games when he lived down here. You have to understand, even anyone under the age of 18 is not responsible for their actions, or what happens when they get hurt..It sucks, trust me I have been in your situations...
Just because kids know what airsoft is doesn't mean they are responsible..or old enough to play..16 Is like, a good age to start allowing play..I was lucky some people let me play when I was 15... But that's another story.

It sucks, but you are gonna have to live with it.

Even though we've had this discussion a billion times before....like Andy said.  It's all cool till I shoot out one of your teeth then your mom slaps me with the bill.  Minors can't be put into situations by adults where they might be hurt.  Period.  The adults would be liable and responsible.  Nothing personal.

But, there is no insurence or liability on public land. And by the way 16 year olds are also minors.

Do a search for "minors in airsoft" you will find all the info you want. This subject has been beaten to death.

IMO, someone should lock this BIA before it gets out of hand and someone flings some slander.

I'm sure SNAP will chime in....what do you mean that there isn't any "liablility" on public land?  There is ALWAYS liablility.  What they mean is that you can't easily sue the state for inuries that you incur there.

Also my dad took me there and knew that there were risk involved with the game.
I find it hard to belive that all theese older people dont have kids. airsoft should be a family sport. And if youre going to have a game on public land that all people should have a right to play and make it a popualr family sport. All you are doing is hurting the sport.

1. Not a sport, it's a hobby..You want a sport or some family sh*t, go play paintball.

2. There ARE a few father son "teams" out there, and cool guys, woody & greg(oil and water), and Gant and his dad...

3. Anyone who really enjoys airsoft, is in it for the milsim, and wants it to survive knows that it needs to be kept more private, and only let VERY good publicity to it..

You know-it seems like quite a few of you were none too thrilled about another KIDS can play post.

I have a serious suggestion--Why not DISALLOW anyone under 18 from participation in the board?

Set the age limit to 18+ to join?

It would keep the swarmy little children from chiming in on how studly they think they are, and asking if they can play, so long as they bring mommy or dady with them--etc.......

Do you think arguing with the group that you're trying to integrate with is going to help your cause? If it was said that you're too young, that's the end of it. Find a group of people willing to play with your age group and organize your own event on public land, outside of city limits. I for one have too much to lose to be held liable for injuries you might incure, and I'm definitely not the only adult here that feels this way. Don't make such a big deal about it, just find others willing to accept you on the field. Stay and ask questions here on the forums, and learn all that you can about the hobby so when you are eligible to play, you'll be ahead of the curve.
