How to make threaded barrel?

Does anybody know how to make threaded barrels?  What I need to do is thread a completely unthreaded barrel to be able to attatch an M4 flashhider to it.

The best way is in a lathe. Turn it down to the right thread diameter, set your thred pitch, align your tool, and thread away.

I could do that for you easy. :)


Or you could do it yourself with the die nut approach. Which usuallly ends up in very crooked threading, and spending about ~$50 on a special die nut. Not wort the hastle if yu dont have the fixtures to hold it striaght, and to turn the die nut somewhat true.

The only problem is that you're 2-3 hours away :(  Thanks for letting me know though, maybe I can find a friend with a lathe.

Having a lathe isn't all, you'll want someone with experience as well.
It's one of those things that would be hard if not impossible to correct...depending on how much they messed it up I guess.

Is there a way to thread without a lathe?  Remember, these are CCW 14mm threads.  Can it be done with JB Weld/Die Cast stuff?  I've heard of it being done, but can't make much sense out of those tutorials.

Why don't you just take the barrel off and send it to Vincent? Had you sent it today I am sure he could have had it back to you before the weekend.

I do all kinds of machine work.

Im a machinist at a large custom engineering and manufacturing firm. But most of my own machining work I do in my shop at home.

i've seen each one of vincents projects from start to stop, and i can say that he is in fact an genious when it comes to this stuff.

he's done it all!  

So ya, if you want a threaded barrel, he's the only one you want doing it.  heheh.
