« on: April 03, 2006, 04:09:36 PM »
hey everyone

my Classic Army AK-74 (SLR 105) gave out on me the other day

its not that old

it just stopped working

i thought it was the battery at first

but then i charged two batterys and tried them but it didn't work

the fuse isn't blown

can anyone tell me what to do?

or walk me through steps to help me to fix it myself

Well, I'd have to see it to figure it out completly. Is it making a clicking noise when you pull the trigger? If so, it could be a number of problems. Most common one I'd say is that you're gears are locked up. Or it's possible you have a jam in your barrel. DO you know how to dissasemble your gun?

Pull the motor plate on the pistol grip off (or in the case of the AK, pull the pistol grip off) and see of the motor wires are connected.  That is what I would suspect in this instance.  If that is not the case I would take it to someone who knows what they are doing, or you just may want to do that anyway.

Quick test, see if your wiring harness is even functioning. With the gun fully assembled, take out the motor. Hook the leads up to the motor, make sure the motor is secure (you can hold it in your hand, DO NOT touch the pinion gear you will end up with a hole in your finger, hold it by the sides), flip the safety off and pull the trigger.

If the motor spins up, you have a seized gearbox. Take it to JT and have them look at it.

If the motor does not spin up, you have a malfunctioning wiring harness. Take it to JT and have them look at it.

It was your internal trigger switch that arched, and burned & blackened the connectors. Little clean up job. And the little plastic in the gears was from the plastic "gear block" behind the trigger. Thanks Hurts
