might as well have bought a CA M249..And it would have been 100x. better.

I dont think so. Id put my M4 against any 249 anyday of the week. Im talking just the gun and box mag not the m203.

I happen to have a CA249 and I'd take it over your m4/whatever it is. I would put it against your m4.  :P

2,500 rounds is plenty of ammo, even for a support gunner.  5,000 is just over kill.  I don't even use that much in 3 games.

Im just curious, why does everyone paint their gun... most of turn out ugly and then you f$3*ed. Except like AK's and m14's which turn out nice 99% of them time.

Camouflage is important, and black does not occur in nature.

What about burnt leaves.... (sarcasm)

I know lots of people put down black gear but I like it. I haven't had an issue with someone seeing me because it either- although I don't wear a big bulky black vest or anything. Now I have painted guns before and they are sexy, but the upkeep is a pain and repainting isn't my idea of fun and it kinda wears on the gun IMO.

Not pushing any views here, but I will concur that camoflauge is important.

A friend of mine is doing a SWAT impression. And his gear,BDUs, and helmet,  are all black. The only "pro" is that it looks cool. But then all the cons: its hot, can't hide, you can be spotted from a mile. But then again you can be spotted with most BDUs.

I don't have black gear, but I do have a black gun.  I don't plan on painting it at all because painted guns look like shit.  And I know that black does appear in nature, but painted guns don't.  Painted guns always turn out to be like a blob of color.  But hey, you guys don't care about our opinions anyways.

Yeah you’re right, guns don’t appear in nature, but we are not talking about object we are talking about colors. Depends on who does the paint job. A lot of the guys on here do a great job, like Ganef's gun up top, but there are those that just spray crap on their gun as well.

NATblackURE

-   He's right.

-------

-   I have a black AK-74, and although it looks pretty great the way it is, I'd love a nice dark red wood kit on it 'cause the metal parts get HOT after only an hour (and I wear gloves and a full-sleeve Urban Camo (yeah, Urban) shirt), and I'd never paint it any other color because of the maintenance and money involved.
-   Camo on guns, I believe, isn't something that is essential. It's more for the look, if anything. Suppose you're in the desert wearing desert camo and you're crouching on the ground trying to avoid contact with the enemy. Do you honestly think that the enemy will spot a tiny splinter of the black of your gun if he glances in your general direction for a moment? Most likely not, if you take into account how your eye likes to blend everything you see together; the textures of the dirt, the colored rocks, and the local vegetation should help. (this obviously wouldn't work if the guy was two feet in front of you, but if you're AVOIDING contact you'd know better than to get into that kinda situation).

-   And, yeah, Ganef's gun is schweet. For some odd reason I don't oppose camo on a sniper whatsoever.

I like some of the painted guns. If the person put alot of effort and skill into it they look really cool. Adding effects like leaf and twig cut-outs. Ganef's gun would be damn hard to see if he was in a hidden postion.

Anyone want to paint my gun for free? :D

Painted guns pwn, when done properly.  And mine needs a new paint job. (The black looks like crap, starting to wear in spots... I think someone tried to use a crayon to touch it up.)
