I couldn't find my rubbing alcohol so I just took the pictures but I put a new pic up with the gun cleaned no grease.

I am so happy, I finally finished my M12 AK47!!!

Seriously...The gun started life as a CA XM177 A2.
I added the A2 flash-hider off of my M15A4, a 300MM 6.04 Guarder Tightbore and a G&P Aimpoint replica.

Of course it had to rain today so the indoor pics will have to suffice for today.

The gun is for my girlfriend to use (she wanted something smaller than my full rifle and I wanted to share a common magazine) but I will probably be fielding it occasionally.

One question I had was where on the rail would the aimpoint normally be placed? I think it's about right but I'm not sure.

(The other) One question I have is where I can get a normal sling (I think that is a two point) for the full rifle. I don't want a three point sling, and I don't want one that is stretchy or anything like that. I just want a plain, no padding, no frills shoulder sling.

clearly.. it's an M12 AK47.

good lookin guns. i like the M733. Whats with the body color though? its a CA right?

the aimpoint is fine. Whatever feels best for you.  i always like mine as far forward as possible.

as for the sling question... i suggest a 3pt. or theres always the option of using a 1pt woven into your rig. Whichever you like best really. It's all about personal preference and comfort.

CA is right on the body color for their XM177E2 and M16A1 rifles as the early Vietnam rifles had a grayish body with black hand guards.

Yeah, Its the CA XM 177 E2... As far as the body color, I think CA changed the body color of all of the Vietnam era ArmaLites.

There are all sorts of oddities with the 177... For instance, the inner barrel goes halfway down the flash-hider (Necessitating the new inner barrel for my build) also, Dobbins confirmed that the foregrip is indeed a little bit smaller inside (hence the troubles with the battery) finally, MAG magazines don't feed worth a damn in the thing without taping the back of the magwell to push it forward.

I think I am going to write a review on the gun in a little while seeing as there are none to be found on the internet.

airsofting4god...

My two cents on your primary...take off the camo tape, I am guessing you are going for a kind of tactical look, but H&K already did that work for you by designing the gun. Also, that pattern is something that belongs on somebody holding a deer rifle (a Winchester model 94 in .30-30 comes to mind.)

Anyway, just my suggestion.

Gah! My eyes!

If you are going to tape it, at least tape it completely or with something a little more professional look.  It just looks tacky as it is.  I'm with Laser and Ares, take the tape off.

Krylon Fusion...Its specifically designed to bond to plastics without primer.

Get the camouflage shades...they are extremely flat.
