oh but he wants to put a 9.6V battery in it

would that burn out the TM stock gears?

i have stock tm gears,CA piston,sys. silent head set,a bearing spring guide and a 110 spring in my m16 after 3-4 months and 50,000 (at least) bb's shot using a 9.6v the only thing i need to replace is the gear on the motor (I opened it up today to make sure everything was copesetic). its teeth got sharp. the most important thing is that you get metal bushings and shim the gears right

okay dude but most M16's are made to take 9.6V's

this is a TM AUG

different guns need different things

and what do u mean by shim the gears right?

if you dont put the right shims in between the gears and the bushings will have too much play and something is going to break. if you shim too much then you get tight gears and extra strain on your motor. check out 858airsoft.com some time and systema shims.

Have you ever opened a gearbox before? Shims are little washers that keep the gears tight and in place(I'm not reffering to bushings). If you shim the gears wrong then the gears might loosen out of  place and not spin correctly and they'll kepp doing so until there shimed correctly.

ok i don't have a whole lot of experience with internals. expesially with gear boxes

so i would have no idea what to shim and what not to shim

so is shiming the gears differentely a must?

and what is the point of shimming it?

it looks like thats what you do if your building a gear box from scratch

i shim when i change gears,bushings,or if either out. i also open it up and check all the internals when ever it sounds weird or the white lithium grease gets to not white.
